Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of probiotics in diets with different nutrient densities on growth performance, blood characteristics, relative organ weight and breast meat characteristics in broilers.

TL;DR: High dietary nutrient density increased growth performance and serum cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations in broiler chickens in a 28 d experiment and the positive effect of probiotic supplementation on growth performance was reduced by the high-nutrient-density diet during the first week of life.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Escherichia coli Challenge and Transport Stress on Hematology and Serum Chemistry Values of Three Genetic Lines of Turkeys

TL;DR: Line differences were variable, but the levels of both iron and AP were least in the fastest-growing Comm line birds and greatest in the slowest-growing egg-line birds with intermediate values in the F line.
Journal ArticleDOI

Growth, feed intake, and plasma thyroid hormone levels in chicks fed dietary excesses of essential amino acids

TL;DR: It is shown that high dietary levels of essential amino acids cause depressions in weight gain and feed intake, and, with Ile and Val, these depressions are accompanied by elevations in plasma T3 levels, which have little effect on plasma levels of thyroid hormones.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of probiotics feeding on meat quality of chicken breast during postmortem storage

TL;DR: It is suggested that probiotics-fed chicken groups, particularly PoultryStar treatment, had a higher myofibrillar fragmentation index than the control group, and shear force values were not affected by the probiotic treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative study of DL-selenomethionine vs sodium selenite and seleno-yeast on antioxidant activity and selenium status in laying hens.

TL;DR: The higher ability of organic Se sources to increase the antioxidant activity and Se deposition in egg albumen, leg, and breast muscles compared with SS was confirmed and a significantly better efficiency of SM compared with SY for albumen and muscle Se enrichment was demonstrated.

Vitamin D deficiency.

T E Oppé
- 21 Jul 1979 -
TL;DR: It is suggested that if assessment of overdoses were left to house doctors there would be an increase in admissions to psychiatric units, outpatients, and referrals to social services, but for house doctors to assess overdoses would provide no economy for the psychiatric or social services.

Nutrition of the Chicken

TL;DR: The health of the chicken depends on the type of meat it is slaughtered and the amount of fat it is fed, as well as its age and gender.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toxic constituents of plant foodstuffs.

TL;DR: Toxic constituents of plant foodstuffs, toxic constituents of plants, toxic constituents as mentioned in this paper, toxic components of plant foods, poisonous constituents of vegetables, and plant food stuffs.
