Journal ArticleDOI

The response of broiler chickens and turkey poults to dietary energy supplied either by fat or carbohydrates

TL;DR: In chickens and in turkeys, the growth and feed efficiency responses to energy supplied by fat were indistinguishable from those of carbohydrates and the growth response to energy from either source appeared to be characterized by diminishing returns in the chicken.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gene expression of manganese-containing superoxide dismutase as a biomarker of manganese bioavailability for manganese sources in broilers.

TL;DR: The results suggest that MnSOD gene expression, which is regulated by dietary Mn at transcriptional level, could reflect differences among bio-availabilities of organic Mn sources as early as 7 d, and the estimation of relative bioavailsabilities of Mn sources based on heart MnSod mRNA level could require a shorter experimental period and a smaller number of animals, and thus less cost.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of phenyllactic acid on growth performance, intestinal microbiota, relative organ weight, blood characteristics, and meat quality of broiler chicks

TL;DR: PLA can improve growth performance when it is supplemented in finisher diet, whereas it can depress BW gain and FI in earlier days (d 0 to 7), and in addition, PLA can also decrease the number of E. coli in the large intestine and improve thenumber of immune-related blood cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of enzyme treatment of soybean meal on oligosaccharide disappearance and chick growth performance

TL;DR: It was demonstrated that feces could be made void of raffinose and stachyose, but chick growth performance was not significantly (P > 0.05) improved by enzyme treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of alfalfa and fructooligosaccharide on molting parameters and bone qualities using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry and conventional bone assays.

TL;DR: Alfalfa molting diets had comparable molting parameters, such as percentage of BW loss, ovary weight, and first day out of egg production, to the conventional feed withdrawal molting procedure, and FOS supplementation did not have any detrimental effects on molting performance.

Vitamin D deficiency.

T E Oppé
- 21 Jul 1979 -
TL;DR: It is suggested that if assessment of overdoses were left to house doctors there would be an increase in admissions to psychiatric units, outpatients, and referrals to social services, but for house doctors to assess overdoses would provide no economy for the psychiatric or social services.

Nutrition of the Chicken

TL;DR: The health of the chicken depends on the type of meat it is slaughtered and the amount of fat it is fed, as well as its age and gender.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toxic constituents of plant foodstuffs.

TL;DR: Toxic constituents of plant foodstuffs, toxic constituents of plants, toxic constituents as mentioned in this paper, toxic components of plant foods, poisonous constituents of vegetables, and plant food stuffs.
