Vitamin D deficiency.

T E Oppé
- 21 Jul 1979 -
TL;DR: It is suggested that if assessment of overdoses were left to house doctors there would be an increase in admissions to psychiatric units, outpatients, and referrals to social services, but for house doctors to assess overdoses would provide no economy for the psychiatric or social services.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of two plant extracts on broilers performance, digestibility, and digestive organ size

TL;DR: In the present study, both plant extracts improved the digestibility of the feeds for broilers and the effect of different additives on digestibility improved the performance slightly, but this effect was not statistically significant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of dietary fructooligosaccharide on digestive enzyme activities, intestinal microflora and morphology of male broilers

TL;DR: Two hundred forty male Avian Farms broiler chicks, 1 d of age, were randomly allocated to four treatments, each of which had five pens of 12 chicks per pen, to investigate the effects of fructooligosaccharide (FOS) on digestive enzyme activities and intestinal microflora and morphology.

The Comparative Effect of Oral Ingestion of Methyl Mercury on Chicks and Rats

TL;DR: Data show that feeding animal protein (fish meal) containing higher than normal levels of mercury did not result in the concentration of mercury in poultry tissues that exceeded FDA guideline levels, and that rats tolerated the highest level of dietary methyl mercury for a longer period of time than chicks which consumed three times as much mercury and deposited less mercury in their tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Diet Composition on Vanadium Toxicity for the Chick

TL;DR: Studies to determine the effect of diet composition on the toxicity of 20 ppm added vanadium for the young chick have shown: growth depression of 25-30% with a corn-soybean meal ration but only 3-7% withA corn-herring fish meal diet.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation and identification of 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 25-glucuronide: a biliary metabolite of vitamin D2 in the chick.

TL;DR: 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 25-beta-D-glucuronic acid is a major biliary metabolite of vitamin D2 in the chicks and may play a role in the chick's discrimination against vitamin D1.
Journal ArticleDOI

The interrelationship of dietary copper and amine oxidase in the formation of elastin.

TL;DR: The investigations presented in this report were undertaken to examine the hypothesis that the role of copper in elastin formation is a reflection of its role in amine oxidase activity.
