Biotransformation of limonene by bacteria, fungi, yeasts, and plants

TL;DR: The present review includes the considerable progress made in the characterization of plant P-450 limonene hydroxylases and the cloning of the encoding genes.

Manipulation of the phenolic chemistry of willows by gall-inducing sawflies

TL;DR: Analysis of the concentrations of various plant defense compounds in willow leaves and sawfly galls found that the galls are probably nutritionally beneficial for the sawfly larvae, and changes in chemistry occur in a similar coordinated pattern in all studied willow species, which suggests that the insects control the phenolic biosynthesis in their hosts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Novel uses of catechins in foods

TL;DR: This review outlines the novel uses of catechins in foods and describes their roles as natural antioxidant in oils and fats against lipid oxidation, supplement for animal feeds both to improve animal health and to protect animal products, an antimicrobial agent in foodstuffs and a health functional ingredient in various foods and dietary supplements.

Biological activities of the essential oils and methanol extract of tow cultivated mint species (Mentha longifolia and Mentha pulegium) used in the Tunisian folkloric medicine.

TL;DR: The composition of the essential oils and methanolic extracts of two cultivated mint species (M longifolia and M pulegium), as well as the in vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, were compared in this paper.
