Precipitation of the δ-Ni 3 Nb phase in two nickel base superalloys

TLDR
In this article, the precipitation of the metastable δ-Ni3Nb phase has been studied in two niobium bearing nickel base superalloys and the morphology and distribution of precipitates have been examined and the crystallographic orientation relationship between the austenite and the δ phases has been determined.
Abstract
The precipitation of the equilibrium δ-Ni3Nb phase has been studied in two niobium bearing nickel base superalloys—INCONEL 718 and INCONEL* 625—both of which are hardenable by the precipitation of the metastableγ″-Ni3Nb phase. The morphology and the distribution of precipitates have been examined and the crystallographic orientation relationship between the austenite and theδ phases has been determined. The nucleation of theδ phase at stacking faults within pre-existing δ" precipitates has been discussed.

TEM Study of High-Temperature Precipitation of Delta Phase in Inconel 718 Alloy

TL;DR: Inconel 718 is widely used because of its ability to retain strength at up to 650 ∘C for long periods of time through coherent metastable Ni 3Nb precipitation associated with a smaller volume fraction of Ni 3Al precipitates.

Precipitation of an intermetallic phase with Pt2Mo-Type structure in Alloy 625

TL;DR: In this article, the microstructure of Alloy 625, which has undergone prolonged (∼70,000 hours) service at temperatures close to but less than 600 °C, has been characterized by transmission electron microscopy.

Microstructure Development in Electron Beam-Melted Inconel 718 and Associated Tensile Properties

TL;DR: In this article, a microstructure gradient and associated tensile property gradient are characterized for all EBM Inconel 718 builds, the extent of which is dependent on build geometry and the specifics of a build's processing history.

Computer simulation of phase transformation and plastic deformation in IN718 superalloy: Microstructural evolution during precipitation

TL;DR: In this paper, the phase-field method is used to simulate statistically representative multiphase microstructures observed in the alloy, the Kim-Kim-Suzuki treatment of interfaces is employed.

Determining interphase boundary orientations from near-coincidence sites

TL;DR: In this paper, a transmission electron microscope (TEM) study was made of the interphase boundary structure of delta plates precipitated from the gamma phase in alloy 718 and a variety of interfacial defects were examined and identified.

Configurational Thermodynamics of Solid Solutions

TL;DR: In this article, a review of theoretical models applicable to concentrated solid solutions is presented, focusing on concentrated solutions because dilute ones can be considered as special cases and because the interesting effects of clustering and ordering are most apparent at high solute concentrations.

Heat treatment of 706 alloy for optimum 1200 °F stress-rupture properties

TL;DR: In this article, a heat treatment for 706 alloy was developed which effectively optimizes the 1200°F stress-rupture properties of the alloy by precipitation of globular to plate-like Ni3Cb/Ni3Ti at the grain boundaries in conjunction with maintaining a fine as-forged grain structure.
