Precipitation of the δ-Ni 3 Nb phase in two nickel base superalloys

TLDR
In this article, the precipitation of the metastable δ-Ni3Nb phase has been studied in two niobium bearing nickel base superalloys and the morphology and distribution of precipitates have been examined and the crystallographic orientation relationship between the austenite and the δ phases has been determined.
Abstract
The precipitation of the equilibrium δ-Ni3Nb phase has been studied in two niobium bearing nickel base superalloys—INCONEL 718 and INCONEL* 625—both of which are hardenable by the precipitation of the metastableγ″-Ni3Nb phase. The morphology and the distribution of precipitates have been examined and the crystallographic orientation relationship between the austenite and theδ phases has been determined. The nucleation of theδ phase at stacking faults within pre-existing δ" precipitates has been discussed.

Temperature-Dependent Misfit Stress in Gamma Double Prime Strengthened Ni-Base Superalloys

TL;DR: In this article, the constrained misfit strain of Ni-base superalloy Inconel 718 was measured using neutron diffraction at various temperatures with the aid of the stress-induced variant selection method.

The effect of δ phase on the microplasticity evolution of a heat-treated nickel base superalloy

TL;DR: The micromechanical deformation behavior of the commercial Ni-base polycrystalline Ni base superalloy GH4169 has been investigated in terms of the volume fraction and grain boundary distribution of the Ni3Nb phase as mentioned in this paper.

An investigation into microstructure, tribological and mechanical properties of cold sprayed Inconel 625 coatings

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of normal load and sliding velocity on the tribological properties of cold-sprayed Inconel 625 coatings were investigated by sliding wear tests, which demonstrated that both increased sliding velocity and normal load led to higher specific wear rates.

The Role of Refractory Metal Additions in Precipitation Processes in Superalloys

TL;DR: The role refractory metal additions in precipitation processes in superalloys are discussed in this paper, where minor variation in the alloying additions on the changes in precipitation behaviour are illustrated with the example of Alloy 718 and Alloy 625.

Configurational Thermodynamics of Solid Solutions

TL;DR: In this article, a review of theoretical models applicable to concentrated solid solutions is presented, focusing on concentrated solutions because dilute ones can be considered as special cases and because the interesting effects of clustering and ordering are most apparent at high solute concentrations.

Heat treatment of 706 alloy for optimum 1200 °F stress-rupture properties

TL;DR: In this article, a heat treatment for 706 alloy was developed which effectively optimizes the 1200°F stress-rupture properties of the alloy by precipitation of globular to plate-like Ni3Cb/Ni3Ti at the grain boundaries in conjunction with maintaining a fine as-forged grain structure.
