The precipitation of the equilibrium δ-Ni3Nb phase has been studied in two niobium bearing nickel base superalloys—INCONEL 718 and INCONEL* 625—both of which are hardenable by the precipitation of the metastableγ″-Ni3Nb phase. The morphology and the distribution of precipitates have been examined and the crystallographic orientation relationship between the austenite and theδ phases has been determined. The nucleation of theδ phase at stacking faults within pre-existing δ" precipitates has been discussed.read more

Stephen Taller,Ty Austin +1 more
TL;DR: In this article , a post-build heat treatment for high strength across a wide temperature range, determining the strength contribution of nanoscale precipitating phases to the overall mechanical properties of superalloy 718, and from these, provide a comprehensive microstructure-property relationship for wrought and AM 718 to guide efforts to simulate the properties of AM components.

Investigation of hydrogen embrittlement properties of Ni-based alloy 718 fabricated via laser powder bed fusion
Jisung Yoo,Selim Kim,Min Cheol Jo,Hyungkwon Park,Joong Eun Jung,Jeonghyeon Do,Dae Won Yun,In Soo Kim,Baig Gyu Choi +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the hydrogen embrittlement behavior of heat-treated Alloy 718 fabricated by laser powder bed fusion under electrochemical hydrogen charging and showed that H promoted the dislocation slip band, and the resulting concentrated strain and H along the slip planes caused cracking regardless of the distribution of additive manufacturing (AM) microstructural features such as sub-grain boundaries.

Heat treatment of 706 alloy for optimum 1200 °F stress-rupture properties
TL;DR: In this article, a heat treatment for 706 alloy was developed which effectively optimizes the 1200°F stress-rupture properties of the alloy by precipitation of globular to plate-like Ni3Cb/Ni3Ti at the grain boundaries in conjunction with maintaining a fine as-forged grain structure.
