TLDR
Among the possible subcarrier mapping approaches, it is found that localizedFDMA (LFDMA) with channel-dependent scheduling (CDS) results in higher throughput than interleaved FDMA (JFDMA), however, the PARR performance of IFDMA is better than that of LFDMA.

QoS and Energy Efficient Resource Allocation in Uplink SC-FDMA Systems

TL;DR: A suboptimal algorithm is introduced, which performs resource allocation using information on the estimated uplink packet delay, the average delay and data rate of past allocations, as well as the required uplink power per resource block, which achieves significant performance improvement in terms of packet timeout rate, goodput, and fairness.

Scheduling and Resource Allocation in LTE Uplink with a Delay Requirement

TL;DR: Two new scheduling algorithms are provided that, in addition to the channel contiguity constraint, take also into account the end-to-end delay constraint, without sacrificing the user fairness.

Transmission of 1 Tb/s Unique-Word DFT-Spread OFDM Superchannel Over 8000 km EDFA-Only SSMF Link

TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate the transmission of 1.0 Tb/s unique-word DFTS-OFDM superchannel signal over 8000 km standard single-mode fiber with 80 km span engineering and erbium-doped fiber amplification (EDFA) using quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) modulation.

DFT-Based Channel Estimation and Noise Variance Estimation Techniques for Single-Carrier FDMA

TL;DR: This paper investigates the performance of the denoise channel estimator and the approximate linear minimum mean square error (A-LMMSE) channel estimators with channel power delay profile (PDP) mismatch and noise variance estimation errors for a single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) system.

Frequency domain equalization for single-carrier broadband wireless systems

TL;DR: This article surveys frequency domain equalization (FDE) applied to single-carrier (SC) modulation solutions and discusses similarities and differences of SC and OFDM systems and coexistence possibilities, and presents examples of SC-FDE performance capabilities.

Transmission techniques for digital terrestrial TV broadcasting

TL;DR: The authors discuss the potential of OFDM signaling, with its limitations and inherent problems, as well as another potential technique that has so far been overlooked: single-carrier transmission with frequency- domain equalization, and introduces coded-OFDM (COFDM), which makes use of channel coding and frequency-domain interleaving.

Fair multiuser channel allocation for OFDMA networks using Nash bargaining solutions and coalitions

TL;DR: The proposed algorithms not only provide fair resource allocation among users, but also have a comparable overall system rate with the scheme maximizing the total rate without considering fairness, and have much higher rates than that of the scheme with max-min fairness.

Technical solutions for the 3G long-term evolution

TL;DR: Promising technologies to fulfil 3G evolution targets are presented, including OFDM, multi-antenna solutions, evolved QoS and link layer concepts, and an evolved architecture, indicating that the requirements can indeed be reached using the proposed technologies.
