TLDR
In this article, a character table for the group of the wave vector at certain points of symmetry in the Brillouin zone is given, and a possible reason for the complications which may make a simple effective mass concept invalid for some crystals of this type structure is presented.Abstract:
Character tables for the "group of the wave vector" at certain points of symmetry in the Brillouin zone are given. The additional degeneracies due to time reversal symmetry are indicated. The form of energy vs wave vector at these points of symmetry is derived. A possible reason for the complications which may make a simple effective mass concept invalid for some crystals of this type structure will be presented.read more

Magnetotransport properties of individual InAs nanowires
Sajal Dhara,Hari S. Solanki,Vibhor Singh,Arjun Narayanan,Prajakta Chaudhari,Mahesh Gokhale,Arnab Bhattacharya,Mandar M. Deshmukh +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the magnetotransport properties of individual InAs nanowires in a field-effect transistor geometry were investigated, and the role of skipping orbits and the nature of surface scattering is essential in understanding high-field magnetotranport in nanowsires.

Spin-orbit interaction determined by antilocalization in an InSb quantum well
TL;DR: In this paper, the spin-orbit interaction coefficients are extracted by fitting the magnetoresistance data to an antilocalization theory distinguishing the Rashba and Dresselhaus contributions.

Spin-orbit coupling mediated spin torque in a single ferromagnetic layer
TL;DR: By considering a linear in momentum but otherwise arbitrary spin-orbit coupling (SOC), the authors derived a simple analytical expression for the current-driven spin torque in a single ferromagnetic layer.

Pure spin current from one-photon absorption of linearly polarized light in noncentrosymmetric semiconductors.
TL;DR: It is shown that one-photon absorption of linearly polarized light should produce pure spin currents in noncentrosymmetric semiconductors, including even bulk GaAs and wurtzite CdSe.

Controlling a nanowire spin-orbit qubit via electric-dipole spin resonance.
TL;DR: It is found that there is an optimal SOC strength η(opt)=√2/2, where the Rabi frequency induced by the ac electric field becomes maximal, and it is shown that both the level spacing and the RBI frequency of the spin-orbit qubit have periodic responses to the direction of the external static magnetic field.

Theory of Brillouin Zones and Symmetry Properties of Wave Functions in Crystals
TL;DR: In this article, the problem of finding the Brillouin zones is studied from the point of view of group theory, where a representation of the symmetry group is associated with the underlying problem.

Accidental Degeneracy in the Energy Bands of Crystals
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the circumstances under which two wave functions occurring in the Hartree or Fock solution for a crystal can have the same reduced wave vector and the same energy.

Effect of Time-Reversal Symmetry on Energy Bands of Crystals
TL;DR: In this paper, a criterion is developed to facilitate calculation of when and how such additional degeneracy will occur, and the consequences of the reality of the Hamiltonian are tabulated for a number of cases.
