TLDR
In this article, a character table for the group of the wave vector at certain points of symmetry in the Brillouin zone is given, and a possible reason for the complications which may make a simple effective mass concept invalid for some crystals of this type structure is presented.Abstract:
Character tables for the "group of the wave vector" at certain points of symmetry in the Brillouin zone are given. The additional degeneracies due to time reversal symmetry are indicated. The form of energy vs wave vector at these points of symmetry is derived. A possible reason for the complications which may make a simple effective mass concept invalid for some crystals of this type structure will be presented.read more

Feynman relation of Bose-Einstein condensates with spin-orbit coupling
TL;DR: In this paper, the Feynman relation of Bose-Einstein condensates with spin-orbit coupling, which relates the energy of excitations, the static structure factor in condensed phase, and the dispersion of free bosons, is not satisfied in the whole momentum space.

Strain effect on the third-harmonic generation of a two-dimensional GaAs quantum dot in the presence of magnetic field and spin–orbit interaction
TL;DR: The strain effect on the third-harmonic generation (THG) of a two-dimensional GaAs quantum dot has been investigated within the effective mass approximation as mentioned in this paper, and the results illustrate that there is a maximum in TGH for a special magnetic field corresponding to the anti-crossing magnetic field (Bac).

Anisotropic magnetoplasmon spectrum of two-dimensional electron gas systems with the Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit interactions
TL;DR: The magnetoplasmon spectrum of two-dimensional electron gas systems with both Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit interactions is investigated theoretically in this paper, where the coexistence of the two types of spinorbit interactions leads to resonant splittings of the collective excitation modes.

All-optical generation and ultrafast tuning of non-linear spin Hall current.
Jonas Wätzel,Jamal Berakdar +1 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the spin Hall current can be all-optically generated in an open circuit geometry for ring-structured samples and pointed to a versatile and controllable tool for the ultrafast generation of spin accumulations with a variety of applications.

Weak anti-localization of two-dimensional holes in germanium beyond the diffusive regime.
Chung-Tao Chou,Noah Tobias Jacobson,Jonathan E. Moussa,Andrew Baczewski,Yen Chuang,C. W. Liu,Jiun-Yun Li,Tzu-Ming Lu +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a gate-induced crossover from weak localization to weak anti-localization in the magneto-resistance of a high-mobility two-dimensional hole gas in a strained germanium quantum well was observed.

Theory of Brillouin Zones and Symmetry Properties of Wave Functions in Crystals
TL;DR: In this article, the problem of finding the Brillouin zones is studied from the point of view of group theory, where a representation of the symmetry group is associated with the underlying problem.

Accidental Degeneracy in the Energy Bands of Crystals
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the circumstances under which two wave functions occurring in the Hartree or Fock solution for a crystal can have the same reduced wave vector and the same energy.

Effect of Time-Reversal Symmetry on Energy Bands of Crystals
TL;DR: In this paper, a criterion is developed to facilitate calculation of when and how such additional degeneracy will occur, and the consequences of the reality of the Hamiltonian are tabulated for a number of cases.
