Affective Judgments of Faces Modulate Early Activity (160 ms) within the Fusiform Gyri

TL;DR: Findings suggest that affective fea- tures conveyed by faces modulate structural face coding in the human brain, and confirm that affect-modulated brain elec- trical activity started very early in thehuman brain.

Altered awareness of action in schizophrenia: a specific deficit in predicting action consequences

TL;DR: This work distinguishes between a predictive and a retrospective mechanism where both contribute to the experience of agency, and shows that schizophrenia is associated with a specific impairment to the predictive component.

The relations between frontal brain electrical activity and cognitive development during infancy.

TL;DR: The relations between changes in the scalp-recorded electroencephalogram (EEG) and the development of the ability to perform successfully 2 cognitive tasks attributed to frontal lobe functioning were examined in 13 infants from 7 to 12 months of age, confirming work with nonhuman primates on the importance of maturation of frontal cortex in the successful performance on certain tasks, but not on other tasks.

Interhemispheric facilitation of the hand motor area in humans.

TL;DR: It is concluded that early facilitation is mediated through the corpus callosum, and the time required for activation of corticospinal neurones by I3‐waves in the test hemisphere are compatible with the interhemispheric conduction time through the Corpus Callosum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Absence of regional hemispheric volume asymmetries in first-episode schizophrenia.

TL;DR: The absence of normal hemispheric asymmetries suggests an anomaly in the development of laterally specialized cerebral systems in schizophrenia, and this may be associated with an initial presentation of nonparanoid psychosis.

The binomial distribution of right, mixed and left-handedness

TL;DR: Right, mixed and left handers are found in binomial proportions in seven samples of varied subjects whose lateral preferences were ascertained by several methods.

Handedness in musicians

TL;DR: In this article, the authors made an inquiry by means of a questionnaire which included a "handedness inventory" into the prevalence of left-handedness among musicians, and the difficulties, if any, which lefthanders experienced in acquiring executant skills.
