The initiation sites for RNA transcription in Ad2 DNA.

TLDR
Six restriction fragments of Ad2 DNA which contain sites for RNA initiation have been identified by their ability to hybridize nascent labeled RNA less than 1 kb in length.

Isolation of adenovirus type 5 host range deletion mutants defective for transformation of rat embryo cells

TL;DR: All but one of the deletion mutants tested were defective for transformation of rat embryo and rat embryo brain cells, and no viral DNA synthesis was observed in mutant virus-infected HeLa cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pre-early adenovirus 5 gene product regulates synthesis of early viral messenger RNAs

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the expression of many early adenovirus mRNAs is dependent upon the activity of a pre-early viral product, which is defective in adanovirus 5 host range (Ad hr) group I mutants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variety in the level of gene control in eukaryotic cells

TL;DR: Definition of eukaryotic transcription units as simple and complex affords a framework in which to discuss control at the level of RNA processing for which several examples also are known.

Selective and accurate initiation of transcription at the ad2 major late promotor in a soluble system dependent on purified rna polymerase ii and dna

TL;DR: Specific transcription initiation at the late promoter is observed with extracts derived from either virus-infected or uninfected KB cells and with class II RNA polymerases isolated from either human calf, murine or amphibian cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of the adenovirus 2 early mRNAs

TL;DR: The structure of adenovirus 2 (Ad2) cytoplasmic RNAs produced during the early phase of infection is defined and it is suggested that, like the SV40 tumor antigens, the polypeptides encoded by these Ad2 mRNAs have an identical amino acid sequence at their N terminal ends, but have different C terminal sequences.

Detection of specific sequences among DNA fragments separated by gel electrophoresis.

TL;DR: This paper describes a method of transferring fragments of DNA from agarose gels to cellulose nitrate filters that can be hybridized to radioactive RNA and hybrids detected by radioautography or fluorography.

Processing of RNA.

TL;DR: This research attacked the prokaryote-prokaryotes “ cellular “spatially aggregating” mechanism with a “knock-on” effect that results in knock-on effects that affect the ability of these cells to “talk” to each other.

Biogenesis of mRNA: Genetic Regulation in Mammalian Cells

TL;DR: The experimental description of the mechanics as well as the regulation of bacterial protein synthesis appears to have entered a final stage and the challenge of understanding protein synithesis in mammalian cells in detail comparable to the understanding in bacteria is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mapping of adenovirus 2 RNA sequences in lytically infected cells and transformed cell lines.

TL;DR: A tentative map of the cytoplasmic RNA sequences has been constructed for viral RNA extracted from cells both early and late during infection, suggesting that RNA processing and selection may play a role in the regulation of viral mRNA production.

The definition of a large viral transcription unit late in Ad2 infection of HeLa cells: Mapping of nascent RNA molecular labeled in isolated nuclei

TL;DR: Nuclei isolated from HeLa cells 15 hr after infection with Ad2 synthesize an RNA transcript approximately 25 KB long, which represents the major product of late Ad2 RNA synthesis.
