A practical oxidative C–H functionalization of N-carbamoyl tetrahydro-β-carbolines with diverse potassium trifluoroborates

TL;DR: This reaction has excellent functional group tolerance, and exhibits a broad range of potassium trifluoroborate components, allowing for the facile C-H functionalization of electronically varied N-carbamoyl THCs in high efficiency with excellent regioselectivity.

Alkaloids as Inhibitors of Monoamine Oxidases and Their Role in the Central Nervous System

TL;DR: This chapter considers selectivity on MAO isoforms and SAR issues of various classes of alkaloids, mainly related to the serotonergic and glutamatergic transmission of indole alkaloid.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-performance liquid chromatographic analysis of tetrahydro-β-carbolines in food plants

TL;DR: In this paper, a liquid chromatographic method was proposed for the unambiguous determination of the amount of tetrahydro-β-carbolines in food plants, and the results showed that tomato, banana, pineapple, kiwi, plum and prune contain both 1,2,3,4 and 1,methyl-1,2.3, 4-tetrahedroβ-carboline at ng to μg/g levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

A mild novel synthesis of simple 1-oxo-β-carbolines

TL;DR: In this paper, a new route using very mild reaction conditions is described for the transformation of indoloquinolizidines 4 and 5 to the 1-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carbolines 2 and 3

The isolation of harmane and norharmane from tobacco and cigarette smoke

E.H. Poindexter, +1 more
- 01 Sep 1962 -
TL;DR: Harmane and norharmane were isolated from cured tobacco and its smoke and the addition of radioactive tryptophan to the tobacco resulted in the isolation of radioactive harmane alkaloids in the smoke, establishing the presence of indole alkaloid in tobacco.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interactions of norharman and harman with DNA

TL;DR: Agarose gel electrophoresis of circular DNA, closed in the presence or absence of norharman revealed that the dye intercalates DNA, thereby causing 17 +/- 3 degrees unwinding of the double helix.
