Recent advances in using of chitosan-based adsorbents for removal of pharmaceutical contaminants: A review

TL;DR: In this paper, a critical review of chitosan-based materials for the removal of pharmaceutical compounds is presented. But, the results of the review are limited to three categories: antibiotics (tetracycline, amoxicillin, etc.), non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (diclofenac, ibuprofen, etc.) and other pharmaceutical compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effective water/wastewater treatment methodologies for toxic pollutants removal: Processes and applications towards sustainable development.

TL;DR: In this article, a review of wastewater treatment and its respective benefits/applications in field scale were discussed and the difficulties in the enhancement of treatment methodologies for pragmatic commercial application are recognized and the future viewpoints are introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Removal of metal ions using a new magnetic chitosan nano-bio-adsorbent; A powerful approach in water treatment.

TL;DR: In this article, a magnetic chitosan/Al2O3/Fe3O4 (M-Cs) nanocomposite was developed by ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) functionalization to enhance its adsorption behavior for the removal of Cd(II), Cd and Zn(II) metal ions from aqueous solution.

A Review of Surface Plasmon Resonance‐Enhanced Photocatalysis

TL;DR: In the past decade, surface plasmon resonance of Ag and Au nanoparticles has been investigated to improve the efficiency of photocatalytic processes as discussed by the authors, which is particularly interesting for its ability to store the sun's energy in chemical bonds that can be released later without producing harmful byproducts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Titanium dioxide photocatalysis: present situation and future approaches

TL;DR: Fujishima et al. as mentioned in this paper summarized the present commercialization of TiO2-based products and highlighted several points for the future development of the material for photocatalysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ag/ZnO heterostructure nanocrystals: synthesis, characterization, and photocatalysis.

TL;DR: The photocatalytic property is closely related to its structure, such as heterostructure, oxygen defect, and crystallinity, and the presence of metallic Ag nanoparticles and oxygen vacancy on the surface of ZnO nanorods promotes the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs and thus enhances the photocatallytic activity.
