Evidence of lower than three valence of bismuth in Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2O8 superconductor

TL;DR: In this paper, a superconducting single-phase Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 1 Cu 2 O 8 has been investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and the binding energy of 158.3 eV for the Bi 4f 7 2 level indicates the presence of bismuth in a valency state lower than + 3.

Structural, optical and charge density investigations on lead free Mn2+ doped Cs2NaBiCl6 double perovskite microcrystals

TL;DR: In this article , the authors have successfully synthesized Mn 2+ doped Cs 2 B′B′′Cl 6 (B′= Na + , B′′=Bi 3+ ) microcrystals by chemical reflux method.

Application of combined x-ray photoelectron! auger spectroscopy to studies of inorganic materials

TL;DR: In this article, a variety of experimental approaches must be used to obtain types of information such as lattice structure, bonding, and electronic structure of a material, but several techniques can complement one another to contribute pieces of the description.

Thiol-Free Synthesis of Bright Near-Infrared-Emitting Ag2S Nanocrystals through Heterovalent-Metal Decoration for Ecofriendly Solar Cells

TL;DR: In this article , a general strategy of surface heterovalent-metal (Bi3+, Ga3+, In3+, Sb3+, and Zn2+) decoration was developed to synthesize colloidal cation-rich Ag2S nanocrystals achieving a high photoluminescence quantum yield up to 22% at ∼1230 nm.

Photoemission study of the BiCuO interface

TL;DR: In this article, the formation of the BiCuO interface was studied by photoelectron spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation in the VUV range, where a thin copper layer was placed onto a SrTiO3(100) substrate and oxidising it with atomic oxygen to form CuO.

Electronegativity values from thermochemical data

TL;DR: In this paper, the electronegativities of sixtynine elements have been calculated from the most recent thermochemical data, and the mean deviation of the calculated electronegativity difference, 0·208 √ †, from the difference of the average electrone-gativities is 0·046 units.

The use of semiconductors in thermoelectric refrigeration

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed that semiconductors should be chosen with high mean atomic weights and that they should be prepared with thermoelectric powers lying between 200 and 300 μVC-1.

Chemical bonding in bismuth telluride

TL;DR: In this paper, a model for the chemical bondins in bismuth telluride is proposed, which appears to dispose of some of the difficulties involved in earlier models, and is used to explain some properties of BTE and its alloys with BTE.
