TL;DR: The latest version of the BioMart Community Portal comes with many new databases that have been created by the ever-growing community and comes with better support and extensibility for data analysis and visualization tools.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolomics: Available Results, Current Research Projects in Breast Cancer, and Future Applications
Wederson M. Claudino,Alessandro Quattrone,Laura Biganzoli,Marta Pestrin,Ivano Bertini,Angelo Di Leo +5 more
TL;DR: Main current applications of metabolomics in cancer research are reviewed, including its potential in the drug discovery field, and, last but not least, its potential impact in the field of monitoring response and toxicity to anticancer agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cationic Lipids Improve Antisense Oligonucleotide Uptake and Prevent Degradation in Cultured Cells and in Human Serum
TL;DR: Artificial cationic lipids contribute to render these molecules very suitable for aODN vehiculation and are consistent with a mechanism of ODN internalization by receptor-mediated saturable endocytosis that is bypassed by DOTAP.

Curcumin activates defensive genes and protects neurons against oxidative stress.
Giovanni Scapagnini,Giovanni Scapagnini,C Colombrita,C Colombrita,Marialaura Amadio,Velia D'Agata,Velia D'Agata,E. Arcelli,Maria Sapienza,Alessandro Quattrone,Vittorio Calabrese +10 more
TL;DR: This study gives additional support to the possible use of curcumin as a dietary preventive agent against oxidative stress-related diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increase of the RNA-binding protein HuD and posttranscriptional up-regulation of the GAP-43 gene during spatial memory
Alessia Pascale,Pavel A. Gusev,Marialaura Amadio,Tania Dottorini,Stefano Govoni,Daniel L. Alkon,Alessandro Quattrone +6 more
TL;DR: HuD, a strictly neuron-specific ELAV-like protein, is shown to increase after learning, with a preferential binding to the cytoskeletal fraction, and HuD mRNA levels still remain increased after 1 month in the CA1 region, which may have implications for long-term memory recall.
