Oxidative Stress and Asthma: Proteome Analysis of Chitinase-like Proteins and FIZZ1 in Lung Tissue and Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid
Lifeng Zhang,Meiying Wang,Xuedong Kang,Pinmanee Boontheung,Ning Li,Andre E. Nel,Joseph A. Loo +6 more
TL;DR: Nine proteins were significantly increased in lung tissue from the murine asthma model, including Yml, Ym2, FIZZ1, and other lung remodeling-related proteins, which could play an important role in the pathogenesis of asthma and may be useful oxidative stress markers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liposomal Delivery of Mitoxantrone and a Cholesteryl Indoximod Prodrug Provides Effective Chemo-immunotherapy in Multiple Solid Tumors.
Kuo-Ching Mei,Yu-Pei Liao,Jinhong Jiang,Michelle Chiang,Mercedeh Khazaieli,Xiangsheng Liu,Xiang Wang,Qi Liu,Chong Hyun Chang,Xiao Zhang,Juan Li,Ying Ji,Brenda Melano,Donatello Telesca,Tian Xia,Huan Meng,Andre E. Nel +16 more
TL;DR: Encapsulated MTO delivery was highly effective for inducing chemo-immunotherapy responses, with NK participation, in all tumor models, and the growth inhibitory effect of MTO was enhanced by IND co-delivery in EMT6 and 4T1 tumors.
Journal Article
Involvement of Janus kinases, p52shc, Raf-1, and MEK-1 in the IL-6-induced mitogen-activated protein kinase cascade of a growth-responsive B cell line.
TL;DR: The results suggest that JAK kinase family members associated with the IL-6R may participate in the activation of MAP kinase in AF10 cells by way of an adaptor protein and Ras-dependent kinase cascade.
Journal ArticleDOI
Self-Organizing Map Analysis of Toxicity-Related Cell Signaling Pathways for Metal and Metal Oxide Nanoparticles
Robert Rallo,Rong Liu,Sumitra Nair,Saji George,Robert Damoiseaux,Francesc Giralt,Andre E. Nel,Kenneth A. Bradley,Yoram Cohen +8 more
TL;DR: The response of a murine macrophage cell line exposed to a library of seven metal and metal oxide nanoparticles was evaluated via High Throughput Screening assay employing luciferase-reporters for ten independent toxicity-related signaling pathways, and similarities of toxicity response among the nanoparticles were identified via Self-Organizing Map (SOM) analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessing and Mitigating the Hazard Potential of Two-Dimensional Materials.
TL;DR: The toxicity and environmental fate of postcarbon 2D materials, such as transition metal dichalcogenides, hexagonal boron nitride, and black phosphorus are reviewed as a function of their preparation methods and surface functionalization.
