Journal ArticleDOI

Update of the risk assessment of nickel in food and drinking water.

TL;DR: The margin of exposure approach was applied and an MOE of 30 or higher was considered as being indicative of a low health concern, and the MOE values for the mean UB acute dietary exposure and for the 95th percentile UB raises a health concern for nickel‐sensitised individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Subcellular distribution and binding of cadmium to metallothionein in tissues of rainbow trout after exposure to 109Cd in water

TL;DR: In this paper, the uptake and distribution of cadmium in rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) was studied after 1 week of exposure to 109Cd in water and after a subsequent 14-week period in clean water.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intestinal iron uptake in the European flounder (Platichthys flesus)

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a marine teleost absorbs Fe(2+) preferentially in the posterior intestine, in spite of extremely high luminal bicarbonate concentrations recorded in vivo, which may be expected to reduce the bioavailability of divalent cations as a result of the precipitation as carbonates.
Journal ArticleDOI

The phylogeny of teleost ZIP and ZnT zinc transporters and their tissue specific expression and response to zinc in zebrafish.

TL;DR: For the first time in animals, the tissue-distribution and mRNA expression response to zinc for most zinc transporter genes was tested in zebrafish.
