Review Article: Recommended reading list of early publications on atomic layer deposition—Outcome of the “Virtual Project on the History of ALD”

Esko Ahvenniemi, +62 more
TL;DR: The Virtual Project on the history of ALD (VPHA) is a volunteer-based effort with open participation, set up to make the early days of atomic layer deposition more transparent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atomic Layer Deposition onto Carbon Fiber Fabrics

TL;DR: In this article, carbon fiber fabrics, consisting of interwoven bundles of 3000 single fibers, were coated with Al2O3 using the atomic layer deposition (ALD) process, exposing the fabrics to alternating pulses of trimethyl aluminium and water vapors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Controlled CVD Growth of Highly ⟨111⟩-Oriented 3C-SiC

TL;DR: In this paper , the difference in the preferred growth orientation of the 3C-SiC coatings deposited by using C7H8 and CH4 as the carbon precursors was explained via quantum chemical calculations of binding energies on various crystal planes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deposition of an organic–inorganic hybrid material onto carbon fibers via the introduction of furfuryl alcohol into the atomic layer deposition process of titania and subsequent pyrolysis

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that without additional water pulses these reactions are limited by the amount of water that is formed or desorbed, which leads to the release of water during the furfuryl alcohol pulse and further comprises hydrolytic ring opening of furan rings and/or catalytic cleavage of Ti-Cl bonds.
