TL;DR: A phylogenetic tree of Carex is presented based on hundreds of loci, demonstrating that there are six strongly supported main lineages in Carex: the Siderostictae, Schoenoxiphium, Unispicate, Uncinia, Vignea and Core Carex clades and a revised subgeneric treatment is suggested.
