TL;DR: MRI lesion load, OCB and age at CIS are validated as the strongest independent predictors of conversion to CDMS in this multicentre setting.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The demographic data provide new data on disability in patients with neuromyelitis optica, most of whom were receiving treatment, andMultivariate analysis did not reveal any predictors of a poor evolution other than a high number of MRI brain lesions at diagnosis, which were predictive of a residual visual acuity ≤1/10.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chitinase 3-like proteins as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers of multiple sclerosis.
Geoffrey Hinsinger,Nathalie Galéotti,Nicolas Nabholz,Serge Urbach,Valérie Rigau,Christophe Demattei,Sylvain Lehmann,William Camu,Pierre Labauge,Giovanni Castelnovo,David Brassat,Delphine Loussouarn,Mounerou Salou,David Laplaud,Olivier Casez,Joël Bockaert,Philippe Marin,Eric Thouvenot +17 more
TL;DR: CSF chitinase 3-like protein 1 and CHI3L2 and serum CHI2L1 might help to define MS disease stage and have a prognostic value in CIS and CSF CHi3L1/CHI3l2 ratio accurately discriminated PMS from RRMS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum neurofilament light chain levels are increased in patients with a clinically isolated syndrome
Giulio Disanto,Rocco Adiutori,Ruth Dobson,Vittorio Martinelli,Gloria Dalla Costa,Tessel F. Runia,E. P. Evdoshenko,Eric Thouvenot,Maria Trojano,Niklas Norgren,Charlotte E. Teunissen,Ludwig Kappos,Gavin Giovannoni,Jens Kuhle,Jens Kuhle +14 more
TL;DR: If replicated in future studies, serum NfL may represent a reliable and easily accessible biomarker of early axonal damage in CIS and MS.
