Functions of natural killer cells
Eric Vivier,Elena Tomasello,Elena Tomasello,Myriam Baratin,Myriam Baratin,Thierry Walzer,Thierry Walzer,Sophie Ugolini,Sophie Ugolini +8 more
TL;DR: Although NK cells might appear to be redundant in several conditions of immune challenge in humans, NK cell manipulation seems to hold promise in efforts to improve hematopoietic and solid organ transplantation, promote antitumor immunotherapy and control inflammatory and autoimmune disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Innate or Adaptive Immunity? The Example of Natural Killer Cells
Eric Vivier,David H. Raulet,Alessandro Moretta,Michael A. Caligiuri,Laurence Zitvogel,Lewis L. Lanier,Wayne M. Yokoyama,Sophie Ugolini,Sophie Ugolini +8 more
TL;DR: NK cells are now recognized to express a repertoire of activating and inhibitory receptors that is calibrated to ensure self-tolerance while allowing efficacy against assaults such as viral infection and tumor development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Innate lymphoid cells--a proposal for uniform nomenclature.
Hergen Spits,David Artis,Marco Colonna,Andreas Diefenbach,James P. Di Santo,Gérard Eberl,Shigeo Koyasu,Richard M. Locksley,Andrew N.J. McKenzie,Reina E. Mebius,Fiona Powrie,Eric Vivier,Eric Vivier +12 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that ILCs should be categorized into three groups based on the cytokines that they can produce and the transcription factors that regulate their development and function.
Journal ArticleDOI
The intestinal microbiota modulates the anticancer immune effects of cyclophosphamide
Sophie Viaud,Sophie Viaud,Fabiana Saccheri,Grégoire Mignot,Takahiro Yamazaki,Romain Daillère,Romain Daillère,Dalil Hannani,David Enot,David Enot,Christina Pfirschke,Camilla Engblom,Mikael J. Pittet,Andreas Schlitzer,Florent Ginhoux,Lionel Apetoh,Elisabeth Chachaty,Paul Louis Woerther,Gérard Eberl,Marion Bérard,Chantal Ecobichon,Chantal Ecobichon,Dominique Clermont,Chantal Bizet,Valérie Gaboriau-Routhiau,Valérie Gaboriau-Routhiau,Nadine Cerf-Bensussan,Nadine Cerf-Bensussan,Paule Opolon,Nadia Yessaad,Eric Vivier,Bernhard Ryffel,Charles O. Elson,Joël Doré,Joël Doré,Guido Kroemer,Patricia Lepage,Patricia Lepage,Ivo G. Boneca,Ivo G. Boneca,François Ghiringhelli,François Ghiringhelli,Laurence Zitvogel,Laurence Zitvogel,Laurence Zitvogel +44 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that cyclophosphamide alters the composition of microbiota in the small intestine and induces the translocation of selected species of Gram-positive bacteria into secondary lymphoid organs, which suggests that the gut microbiota help shape the anticancer immune response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Innate Lymphoid Cells: 10 Years On.
Eric Vivier,David Artis,Marco Colonna,Andreas Diefenbach,James P. Di Santo,James P. Di Santo,Gérard Eberl,Gérard Eberl,Shigeo Koyasu,Richard M. Locksley,Andrew N. J. McKenzie,Reina E. Mebius,Fiona Powrie,Hergen Spits +13 more
TL;DR: The advances in ILC biology over the past decade are distill the advances to refine the nomenclature of ILCs and highlight the importance of I LCs in tissue homeostasis, morphogenesis, metabolism, repair, and regeneration.
