Journal ArticleDOI

Essential versus accessory aspects of cell death: recommendations of the NCCD 2015

Lorenzo Galluzzi, +121 more
TL;DR: The Nomenclature Committee on Cell Death formulates a set of recommendations to help scientists and researchers to discriminate between essential and accessory aspects of cell death.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impairing the bioenergetic status and the biogenesis of mitochondria triggers mitophagy in yeast

TL;DR: It is shown that, in yeast cells grown under nonstarving conditions, autophagy can be induced by mitochondrial dysfunction, and mitochondrial damage-induced Autophagy results in the preferential degradation of impaired mitochondria (mitophagy), before leading to cell death.
Journal ArticleDOI

TCTP protects from apoptotic cell death by antagonizing bax function.

TL;DR: It is shown here that loss of tctp expression in mice leads to increased spontaneous apoptosis during embryogenesis and causes lethality between E6.5 and E9.5, and the antiapoptotic role of TCTP in vivo is confirmed.
