Journal ArticleDOI
Alternative lengthening of telomeres is enriched in, and impacts survival of TP53 mutant pediatric malignant brain tumors
Joshua Mangerel,Aryeh J. Price,Pedro Castelo-Branco,Pedro Castelo-Branco,Jack Brzezinski,Pawel Buczkowicz,Patricia Rakopoulos,Diana M. Merino,Berivan Baskin,Jonathan D. Wasserman,Matthew Mistry,Mark Barszczyk,Daniel Picard,Stephen C. Mack,Marc Remke,Hava Starkman,Cynthia Elizabeth,Cindy Zhang,Noa Alon,Jodi Lees,Irene L. Andrulis,Irene L. Andrulis,Jay S. Wunder,Jay S. Wunder,Jay S. Wunder,Nada Jabado,Donna L. Johnston,James T. Rutka,Peter B. Dirks,Eric Bouffet,Michael D. Taylor,Annie Huang,David Malkin,Cynthia Hawkins,Uri Tabori +34 more
TL;DR: The presence of ALT is limited to a specific group of childhood brain cancers which harbor somatic TP53 mutations and may influence the outcome of these patients, which may contribute to risk stratification and targeted therapies to improve outcome for these children.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of proliferative index and cell cycle protein expression in choroid plexus tumors in children.
Carlos Gilberto Carlotti,Bodour Salhia,Sheila Weitzman,Mark T. Greenberg,Peter B. Dirks,Warren P. Mason,Lawrence E. Becker,James T. Rutka +7 more
TL;DR: CPs in children are characterized by a higher MIB-1 labeling index and greater cell cycle dysregulation than are CPPs, and Chemotherapy may work in part on CPCs to decrease their proliferative potential and expression of cell cycle regulatory proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Topographic movie of intracranial ictal high‐frequency oscillations with seizure semiology: Epileptic network in Jacksonian seizures
Tomoyuki Akiyama,Derrick Chan,Cristina Go,Ayako Ochi,Irene Elliott,Elizabeth J. Donner,Shelly K. Weiss,O. Carter Snead,James T. Rutka,James M. Drake,Hiroshi Otsubo +10 more
TL;DR: This technique is applied to Jacksonian seizures to demonstrate ictal HFO propagation along the homunculus in the primary sensory‐motor cortex to visualize the underlying epileptic network.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intrahemispheric reorganization of language in children with medically intractable epilepsy of the left hemisphere.
Darren S. Kadis,Koji Iida,Elizabeth Kerr,William J. Logan,Mary Pat McAndrews,Ayako Ochi,Hiroshi Otsubo,James T. Rutka,O. Carter Snead,Shelly K. Weiss,Mary Lou Smith +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that left hemisphere insult in young children may result in anterior displacement of language within the frontal cortex, possibly reflecting intrahemispheric reorganization.
Journal ArticleDOI
Colloid cysts in children.
TL;DR: The growth, and subsequent postoperative recurrence of a colloid cyst in 1 youth argues for treatment by complete surgical excision in children.
