Journal ArticleDOI

Potentiation of acetylcholine receptors by divalent cations.

TL;DR: These studies are helping to reveal how movements initiated by agonist binding to ACh binding sites are propagated through the extracellular domain of AChRs to regulate opening of the cation channel through the membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential localization of acetylcholinesterase in relation to pre- and postsynaptic nicotinic receptors in the chick brain.

TL;DR: Immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy were combined to study the distribution of acetylcholinesterase in relation to the localization of the beta2 subunit of the nicotinic acetylCholine receptors in the chick brain, finding that data may represent a morphological substrate for possible differential actions of acetolcholiersterase at presynaptic and postsynaptic nicotinics sites.

-Conotoxin PIA Is Selective for6 Subunit-Containing Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors

TL;DR: The predicted peptide, α-conotoxin PIA, potently blocks the chimeric α6/α3β2β3 subunit combination as expressed in oocytes but neither the muscle nor the major neuronal nAChR α4β2.
