Journal ArticleDOI

Mutation at I-A beta chain prevents experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis.

TL;DR: According to the cellular, humoral, biochemical, and clinical manifestations of EAMG, the I-A mutation converted an E AMG susceptible strain into a relatively resistant strain (bm12), which may be due to the lack of Ia.8 and/or la.39 antigens.
Reference EntryDOI

Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors

TL;DR: The effects of nicotine and agonist drugs are complex because they can act on many AChR subtypes causing activation, desensitisation and upregulation, and the effects of Nicotine acting on AChRs causes addiction to tobacco.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modulation of acetylcholine receptor in rat diaphragm by anti-receptor sera.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that anti-receptor antiserum increases the rate of ACh receptor degradation in innervated as well as in denervated rat diaphragms maintained in organ culture.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence for unpredicted transmembrane domains in acetylcholine receptor subunits

TL;DR: A model for the organization of the polypeptide chains in receptor subunits is proposed that has a total of seven transmembrane domains in each subunit, two of which are amphipathic and one of which is not alpha-helical.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of Redeye, a new sleep-regulating protein whose expression is modulated by sleep amount

TL;DR: It is proposed that the homeostatic drive to sleep increases levels of RYE, which responds to this drive by promoting sleep.
