Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamic carbon dioxide exchange through snowpack by wind-driven mass transfer in a conifer-broadleaf mixed forest in northernmost Japan

TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed continuous (half-hourly) midwinter measurements of CO2 concentrations in a conifer-broadleaf mixed forest snowpack, and found that concentrations in the snowpack fluctuated significantly as wind speeds varied.
Journal ArticleDOI

BAAD: a Biomass And Allometry Database for woody plants

Daniel S. Falster, +96 more
- 01 May 2015 -
TL;DR: The Biomass And Allometry Database (BAAD) as discussed by the authors is a large-scale dataset for woody plants that contains 259, 634 measurements collected in 176 different studies, from 21,084 individuals across 678 species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of clear-cutting on nitrogen leaching and fine root dynamics in a cool-temperate forested watershed in northern Japan

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of tree-cutting and strip-cutting of understory vegetation, such as dwarf bamboo (Sasa senanensis), on biogeochemical processes on a forested watershed in northern Japan was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of collar insertion on soil respiration in a larch forest measured with a LI-6400 soil CO2 flux system

TL;DR: It is found that soil respiration rates decreased with increasing depth of collar insertion in both the “ with live roots intact” and “with live roots severed” treatments, but the rate of decrease was substantially higher in the former.
