Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of HLA-B Alleles, Epitope Binding Affinity, Functional Avidity, and Viral Coinfection on the Immunodominance of Virus-Specific CTL Responses
Florian Bihl,Nicole Frahm,Loriana Di Giammarino,John Sidney,Mina John,Karina Yusim,Tonia Woodberry,Kaori Sango,Hannah S. Hewitt,Leah M. Henry,Caitlyn Linde,John V. Chisholm,Tauheed Zaman,Eunice Pae,Simon Mallal,Bruce D. Walker,Alessandro Sette,Bette T. Korber,David Heckerman,Christian Brander +19 more
TL;DR: The data support the important role of HLA-B alleles in antiviral immunity and afford a better understanding of the factors contributing to inter- and intraindividual immunodominance.
Journal ArticleDOI
High-Functional-Avidity Cytotoxic T Lymphocyte Responses to HLA-B-Restricted Gag-Derived Epitopes Associated with Relative HIV Control
Christoph Berger,Nicole Frahm,David Price,David Price,Beatriz Mothe,Musie Ghebremichael,Kari L. Hartman,Leah M. Henry,Jason M. Brenchley,Laura E. Ruff,Vanessa Venturi,Florencia Pereyra,John Sidney,Alessandro Sette,Daniel C. Douek,Bruce D. Walker,Bruce D. Walker,Daniel Kaufmann,Christian Brander,Christian Brander +19 more
TL;DR: Data link the presence of high-avidity Gag-specific and HLA-B-restricted CTL responses with viral suppression in vivo and provide new insights into the immune parameters that mediate spontaneous control of HIV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extensive HLA class I allele promiscuity among viral CTL epitopes
Nicole Frahm,Karina Yusim,Todd J. Suscovich,Sharon Adams,John Sidney,Peter T. Hraber,Hannah S. Hewitt,Caitlyn Linde,Daniel G. Kavanagh,Tonia Woodberry,Leah M. Henry,Kellie Faircloth,Jennifer Listgarten,Carl M. Kadie,Nebojsa Jojic,Kaori Sango,Nancy V. Brown,Eunice Pae,M. Tauheed Zaman,Florian Bihl,Ashok Khatri,Mina John,Simon Mallal,Francesco M. Marincola,Bruce D. Walker,Bruce D. Walker,Alessandro Sette,David Heckerman,Bette T. Korber,Bette T. Korber,Christian Brander +30 more
TL;DR: Functional assays confirmed the frequent recognition of HLA class I‐restricted T cell epitopes on several alternative alleles across HLAclass I supertypes and encoded on different class I loci, suggesting promiscuous binding of T helper epitopes to MHC class II molecules.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential targeting and shifts in the immunodominance of Epstein-Barr virus--specific CD8 and CD4 T cell responses during acute and persistent infection.
Tonia Woodberry,Todd J. Suscovich,Leah M. Henry,Jennifer K. Davis,Nicole Frahm,Bruce D. Walker,Bruce D. Walker,David T. Scadden,Fred Wang,Christian Brander +9 more
TL;DR: An assessment of immunodominance patterns and guidance for developing immunotherapeutic interventions for EBV-associated disorders is provided and it is suggested that symptomatic EBV infection does not lead to unique persistent-stage responses.
Journal ArticleDOI
αEβ7 (CD103) Expression Identifies a Highly Active, Tonsil-Resident Effector-Memory CTL Population
Tonia Woodberry,Todd J. Suscovich,Leah M. Henry,Meredith August,Michael T. Waring,Amitinder Kaur,Christoph Hess,Jeffery L. Kutok,Jon C. Aster,Fred Wang,David T. Scadden,Christian Brander +11 more
TL;DR: EBV-specific CTL responses in the tonsil, a crucial site for EBV entry and replication, are of greater magnitude and phenotypically distinct from CTL in the peripheral blood and may be important for effective control of this orally transmitted virus.
