Characterization of a filovirus (Měnglà virus) from Rousettus bats in China

TL;DR: The characterization of a phylogenetically distinct bat filovirus, named Měnglà virus (MLAV), whose genome shares 32–54% nucleotide sequence identity with known filoviruses, indicates a broad species cell tropism with a high risk of interspecies spillover transmission.
Posted ContentDOI

Origin and cross-species transmission of bat coronaviruses in China

TL;DR: It is found that host-switching was more frequent and across more distantly related host taxa in alpha-than beta-CoVs, and more highly constrained by phylogenetic distance for beta- coV, and it is shown that inter-family and -genus switching is most common in Rhinolophidae and the genus Rhinolia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dietary Shifts in Relation to Fruit Availability among Masked Palm Civets (Paguma larvata) in Central China

TL;DR: To better understand how foraging behavior of civets varies with resource availability, similar studies should be conducted in tropical environments characterized by year-round availability of fruit.
