Journal ArticleDOI

Fifty Years of Melphalan Use in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

TL;DR: This review summarizes the development and the current use of this remarkable drug in hematopoietic SCT and suggests melphalan in combination with alemtuzumab may represent a backbone for future cellular therapy because of reliable engraftment and low toxicity profile.
Journal ArticleDOI

A prospective randomized trial of buffy coat versus CD34-selected autologous bone marrow support in high-risk breast cancer patients receiving high-dose chemotherapy.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that breast cancer patients who receive high-dose therapy with autologous CD34(+) marrow support have reduced marrow infusion-related toxicity, comparable time to neutrophil engraftment and immune function recovery posttransplant, and for women who receive buffy coat fractions of marrow.
Journal ArticleDOI

Functional assessment and specific depletion of alloreactive human T cells using flow cytometry

TL;DR: A simple sorting strategy was developed that exploited phenotypic characteristics of T cells responding to allogeneic stimuli to specifically deplete alloreactive T cells while retaining broad specificity for other stimuli, including viral antigens and third-party alloantigens.
