Direct observation of the spin texture in SmB6 as evidence of the topological Kondo insulator

TL;DR: These results provide strong evidence that SmB6 can host topological surface states in a bulk insulating gap stemming from the Kondo effect, which can serve as an ideal platform for investigating of the interplay between novel topological quantum states with emergent effects and competing orders induced by strongly correlated electrons.
Journal ArticleDOI

Observation of Magnetoelectric Multiferroicity in a Cubic Perovskite System: LaMn 3 Cr 4 O 12

TL;DR: The unique multiferroic phenomenon observed in this cubic perovskite cannot be understood by conventional spin-driven microscopic mechanisms, and a nontrivial effect involving the interactions between two magnetic sublattices is likely to play a crucial role.
Journal ArticleDOI

Visualizing the atomic-scale electronic structure of the Ca2CuO2Cl2 Mott insulator

TL;DR: It is shown that the electronic structure of pristine Mott insulator is consistent with the Zhang-Rice singlet model, but the peculiar features of the doped electronic states require further investigations.
