TL;DR: Westerhout et al. as discussed by the authors showed that ultrafine-grained tungsten materials have a greater fluence threshold to the formation of fuzz by an order or magnitude or more, supporting the conjecture that grain boundaries play a major role in the mechanisms of radiation damage.

Liquid metals as a divertor plasma-facing material explored using the Pilot-PSI and Magnum-PSI linear devices
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of high particle flux loading on the performance of liquid metal plasminar components are investigated, and it is shown that stannane formation may play an important role in enhancing tin erosion and deposition.
