Spatial Optical Solitons due to Multistep Cascading
TL;DR: In this paper, a class of parametric optical solitons supported simultaneously by two second-order nonlinear cascading processes, second-harmonic generation and sum-frequency mixing, is introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI
All-optical deflection and splitting by second-order cascading
TL;DR: A novel type of second-order cascading by which the signal that is cross polarized to the pump can be split with an efficiency of more than 100%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Light-induced orientational effects in periodic photonic structures with pure and dye-doped nematic liquid crystal defects
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors theoretically study and compare the light-induced Freedericksz transition and above-threshold reorientation in pure and dye-doped liquid crystals embedded into periodic dielectric structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of intrinsic chiral bound states in the continuum
Yang Chen,Huachun Deng,Xinbo Sha,Weijin Chen,Ruize Wang,Yu-Hang Chen,Dong-yang Wu,Jiaru Chu,Yuri S. Kivshar,S. Xiao,Chengbin Qiu +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors reported the experimental realization of true/intrinsic chiral response with resonant metasurfaces in which the engineered slant geometry breaks both in-plane and out-of-plane symmetries.
Journal ArticleDOI
Self-focusing of femtosecond surface plasmon polaritons
TL;DR: It is observed that nonlinear effects are more pronounced for the single surface where longer propagation length may compensate for lower field confinement and self-focusing of plasmon pulses is observed for defocusing Kerr-like nonlinearity of the dielectric medium.
