Bound states in the continuum and Fano resonances in the strong mode coupling regime

TL;DR: In this article, a strong coupling between modes of a single subwavelength high-index dielectric resonator and Fano resonators was studied, which is related to the physics of bound states in the continuum when the radiative losses are almost suppressed due to the Friedrich-Wintgen scenario.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrically tunable all-dielectric optical metasurfaces based on liquid crystals

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate electrical tuning of the spectral response of a Mie-resonant dielectric metasurface consisting of silicon nanodisks embedded into liquid crystals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Active and tunable metamaterials

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of active and tunable metamaterials with a focus on the management of loss and gain, coupled with controlled and nonlinear behavior, and discuss critical consequences concerning stability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Laguerre and Hermite soliton clusters in nonlocal nonlinear media.

TL;DR: It is revealed that stable higher-order optical solitons can exist in nonlocal nonlinear media in the various forms of soliton necklaces and soliton matrices.
