Topological Floquet edge states in periodically curved waveguides

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the edge states in arrays of periodically curved optical waveguides described by the modulated Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model and explored the interplay between band topology and periodic modulations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bending Light at Will

TL;DR: The ability to control the path of optical spatial solitons, non-spreading filaments of light that travel through a bulk nonlinear medium, could aid their use in signal processing and other photonics applications as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental observation of evanescent modes at the interface to slow-light photonic crystal waveguides

TL;DR: This work experimentally studies the fields close to an interface between two photonic crystal waveguides that have different dispersion properties and attributes the evolution to the existence of a weakly evanescent mode that exponentially decays away from the interface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surface solitons in two-dimensional chirped photonic lattices

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied surface modes in semi-infinite chirped two-dimensional photonic lattices in the frame-work of an effective discrete nonlinear model and showed that the lattice chirp can change dramatically the conditions for the mode localization near the surface.
