Abstract: A facile and low-cost approach has been developed to fabricate porous CuO nanobelts directly grown on a Cu substrate. The as-prepared CuO samples can be directly used as integrated electrodes for lithium-ion batteries and pseudo-supercapacitors without the addition of other ancillary materials such as carbon black or a binder to enhance electrode conductivity and cycling stability. The unique nanostructural features endow them with excellent electrochemical performance as demonstrated by high capacities of 640 mA h g−1 after 100 cycles at 0.2 C rate and an excellent specific capacitance of 340 F g−1, which corresponds to the energy density of 45 W h kg−1. The cyclability of the electrode demonstrates only a 10–15% loss in capacitance over 5000 cycles.

TL;DR: In this configuration, 48 pieces of LEDs are used to build a LED array and the measuring screen is divided into multiple blocks to allow each LED to illuminate a block, which achieves high reliability installation and can partially realize the functions of Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS).
Abstract: In order to solve the problem of high cost and low optical efficiency of current LED-based headlamps, we introduced a new optical design approach for LED-based automotive headlamps. In this configuration, 48 pieces of LEDs are used to build a LED array and the measuring screen is divided into multiple blocks to allow each LED to illuminate a block. A kind of secondary optical lens for a single LED is used so that the lights radiated from a single LED can form a rectangular beam region, whose optical efficiency is above 85% in theory. Lighting up different LEDs can illuminate different blocks, so as to realize low-beam and high-beam lighting. Ray tracing simulation results fulfill the low-beam and high-beam optical demands of the regulation. Since low-power LEDs need no additional reflectors, cost lower and obtain higher efficiency than high-power LEDs, this configuration achieves high reliability installation and can partially realize the functions of Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS).

TL;DR: In this article, a europium-III mixed complex with 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone and 1,10-phenanthroline was used to detect water in organic solvents.
Abstract: Luminescent nanospheres with strong red fluorescence were prepared from a europium(III) mixed complex with 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone and 1,10-phenanthroline, and characterized by scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The fluorescence of the nanospheres is quenched by traces of water, resulting in a method for determination of water in organic solvents. If excitated at 386 nm, the fluorescence intensity at 618 nm decreases linearly with the water content (vol % in ethanol) in the range 0.05 to 6.0%. The detection limit (S/N = 3) is as low as 0.002%.

TL;DR: A simple, rapid and sensitive colorimetric assay method for detection of Co(2+) through thioglycollic acid (TGA) functionalized hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) modified Au NPs has been discovered in this work.
Abstract: A simple, rapid and sensitive colorimetric assay method for detection of Co2+ through thioglycollic acid (TGA) functionalized hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) modified Au NPs has been discovered in our work. TGA functionalized CTAB modified Au NPs can be aggregated quickly in the presence of Co2+ through a cooperative metal–ligand interaction. Transmission electron microscope (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and UV-vis spectra were used to characterize the Au NPs aggregation. The presence of Co2+ is monitored by a colorimetric response of functionalized Au NPs, and had a detection limit of 3.0 × 10−7 M. Moreover, the selectivity of this method has been investigated by comparing with other metal ions (Hg2+, Na+, Cu2+, Cd2+, Ba2+, Pb2+, Mn2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, Fe2+ and Fe3+).
