TL;DR: In this review, the state-of-the-art drug design strategies against the virus are critically summarized including exploitations of novel drugs and potentials of repurposed drugs.
Abstract: Global health is facing the most dangerous situation regarding the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome called coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which is widely known as the abbreviated COVID-19 pandemic. This is due to the highly infectious nature of the disease and its possibility to cause pneumonia induced death in approximately 6.89% of infected individuals (data until 27 April 2020). The pathogen causing COVID-19 is called severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), which is believed to be originated from the Wuhan Province in China. Unfortunately, an effective and approved vaccine for SARS-CoV-2 virus is still not available, making the situation more dangerous and currently available medical care futile. This unmet medical need thus requires significant and very urgent research attention to develop an effective vaccine to address the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In this review, the state-of-the-art drug design strategies against the virus are critically summarized including exploitations of novel drugs and potentials of repurposed drugs. The applications of nanochemistry and general nanotechnology was also discussed to give the status of nanodiagnostic systems for COVID-19.

TL;DR: In this article, a microwave-initiated synthesis of polyacrylamide-grafted sodium alginate, a graft copolymer with wide variety of applications has been reported.
Abstract: Microwave-initiated synthesis of polyacrylamide-grafted sodium alginate, a graft copolymer with wide variety of applications has been reported in this study. The effect of reaction parameters (i.e., irradiation time and monomer concentration) onto the percentage grafting has been investigated. The resulting polymer has been characterized by a variety of characterization techniques such as intrinsic viscosity measurement, Fourier transform infrared spectra, 13C NMR spectra, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, molecular weight determination using static light scattering analysis, and scanning electron micrographs. Further, the flocculation efficiency of this graft copolymer has been investigated in coal suspension. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2010

TL;DR: Two second-generation current conveyor (CCII+)-based resistance-capacitance (RC) square/triangular waveform generators, which have been derived from their voltage-mode op-amp-based schemes, with independent control of frequency are presented.
Abstract: Two second-generation current conveyor (CCII+)-based resistance-capacitance (RC) square/triangular waveform generators, which have been derived from their voltage-mode op-amp-based schemes, with independent control of frequency are presented in this paper. Each configuration consists of two positive second-generation conveyors (CCII(+)-ldquoArdquo and CCII(+)-ldquoBrdquo), three resistors, and one floating capacitor that is responsible for better linearity. The frequency of the waveform generators can independently be adjusted with any passive device. The circuits were built with commercially available current feedback operational amplifiers (AD844) and passive components used externally and tested for waveform generation and tunability. The measured results included in the paper show excellent linear variation of frequency as compared with existing reported configurations over the range from 25 Hz to 260 kHz. The configurations that are suitable for very large scale integration (VLSI) realization find application in capacitive and resistive sensors and in neuro-fuzzy systems.

TL;DR: In this review, the current status of different types of microbial biosensors and mechanisms of detection of various environmental toxicants are discussed.
Abstract: Environmental security is one of the major concerns for the safety of living organisms from a number of harmful pollutants in the atmosphere. Different initiatives, legislative actions, as well as scientific and social concerns have been discussed and adopted to control and regulate the threats of environmental pollution, but it still remains a worldwide challenge. Therefore, there is a need for developing certain sensitive, rapid, and selective techniques that can detect and screen the pollutants for effective bioremediation processes. In this perspective, isolated enzymes or biological systems producing enzymes, as whole cells or in immobilized state, can be used as a source for detection, quantification, and degradation or transformation of pollutants to non-polluting compounds to restore the ecological balance. Biosensors are ideal for the detection and measurement of environmental pollution in a reliable, specific, and sensitive way. In this review, the current status of different types of microbial biosensors and mechanisms of detection of various environmental toxicants are discussed.
