TL;DR: The distribution of the interstitial-vacancy (I-V) pairs produced in such a substance as germanium by successive knock-on is discussed in this article.
Abstract: The distribution of the interstitial-vacancy (I–V) pairs produced in such a substance as germanium by successive knock-on is discussed. Calculation of the distribution is performed basing on the formula proposed by Bohr and Seitz and Koehler and applying the Monte-Carlo Method. Ratio of the close I–V pairs to the total I–V pairs produced by an 10 4 eV first knocked-on atom is about 60%. Taking into account the replacement collision, decrease of about 40% in the total number of the I–V pairs is obtained and the ratio becomes 30%. The decrease in the total number reduces the difference between the total number deduced from calculation and that obtained by experiment. The following results are also obtained. The interstitials and vacancies are distributed in several groups. They exist in the region enveloped by a sphere of about from 50 to 100 atomic distances of diameter. There is no tendency that the concentrated damaged region spreads in the incident direction of the first knocked-on atom and that the int...

TL;DR: In this article, the acid rain and its neutralization by yellow sand in East Asia were investigated numerically by an Air Quality Prediction Modeling System (AQPMS), which consists of advection, diffusion, dry and wet deposition, gas-phase chemistry and liquid phase chemistry and a new deflation module of the yellow sand (Asian soil dust) was designed to provide explicit information on the dust loading.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of zeolites on the degradation temperature and pyrolyzed products of polypropylene (PP) were studied, and it was found that degradation temperature of PP strongly depended on the type of HY zeolite used and the amount added.

TL;DR: In this paper, a compact array for γ-ray spectroscopy developed for the joint experiment at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute is described, consisting of an array of 11 Compton suppressed Ge detectors, a 4π silicon detector array for charged particle measurements, a position sensitive silicon detector for experiments on Coulomb excitation and a conversion-electron spectrometer.
Abstract: A compact array for γ-ray spectroscopy developed for the joint experiment at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute is described. It consists of an array of 11 Compton suppressed Ge detectors, a 4π silicon detector array for charged particle measurements, a position-sensitive silicon detector for experiments on Coulomb excitation and a conversion-electron spectrometer. The details of the detectors and new experimental results obtained with the compact array are also described.
