TL;DR: The number of children treated under general anesthesia, both boys and girls, increased with each passing year, and the number of these children was 2.5 times higher than in the previous period and about three times lower than the next (2017-2018).
Abstract: General anesthesia is a method of pharmacological behavior management of children The aim of this study is to assess the demographic characteristics of children treated under general anesthesia Subject of monitoring are 396 children treated under general anesthesia divided into three age groups - up to 5 years; between 6 and 12 years, and from 12 to 18 years Three periods of time: 2015 - 2016, 2016 - 2017, and 2017 - 2018 were studied The relative share of girls and boys, the number of treated children from Varna and other regions, and the mean age of children treated under general anesthesia were calculated Results: Girls treated under general anesthesia were fewer than boys in the three studied periods of time, with a relative share of 34% (n=133) The distribution by studied periods was as follows: n=10 (8%) for the period 2015-2016, n=30 (23%) for the period 2016-2017, n= 93 (69%) for the period 2017-2018 The mean age of the patients involved was 486 ± 327 years Most of the surveyed population n=198 (5012%) belonged to the youngest age group (1-5 years) The second age group (6-12) included 167 (4227%) of the children surveyed and only 31 (76%) were over 12 years of age Conclusion: The number of children treated under general anesthesia, both boys and girls, increased with each passing year For the period 2016-2017, the number of these children was 25 times higher than in the previous period and about three times lower than the next (2017-2018)

TL;DR: Data is compared from two studies on primary and metastatic ICTs from Brazil and Bulgaria, based on histopathologically confirmed ICTS from tertiary health centers to find out which groups are more diverse than neuroepithelial tumors.
Abstract: Intracranial tumors (ICTs) attract numerous scientific teams and tremendous financial resources worldwide. These lesions of the central nervous system (CNS) can be both benign and malignant in biological behavior as well as local or metastatic in origin. We compared data from two studies on primary and metastatic ICTs from Brazil and Bulgaria, based on histopathologically confirmed ICTs from tertiary health centers. Primary ICTs significantly outweigh the frequency of metastatic ICTs. Primary ICTs represent 86.45% in Brazil and 69.17% in Bulgaria, with around 60% of their totals being malignant. There is a statistical dominance of tumors from the neuroepithelial origin, with the most common entry being glioblastoma multiforme. The second-most common primary ICT group comprises tumors of meningeal origin. Metastatic ICTs show great variance; 13.55% in Brazil and 31.38% in Bulgaria of all ICT cases being attributed to them. However, metastatic ICTs are even a more diverse group than neuroepithelial tumors, with the majority of this group comprising metastatic colorectal adenocarcinoma (almost exclusively in males), metastatic breast adenocarcinoma in females, metastatic pulmonary carcinomas (primarily from the non-small cell group with a male predominance), and metastatic melanoma with an even gender ratio.

TL;DR: A proper approach to drug addicts is needed to protect doctors and patients, and in order to achieve a better physical, mental and emotional health, incl.
Abstract: Introduction : Drug abuse is common and is on the rise. Addiction usually occurs among younger people. The risk of dealing with drug addicts is high. Aim : The purpose is to analyze the risks, importance and guidelines in management when dealing with drug addicted individuals, which determines the approach and specifics of their treatment. Material s and Methods: A critical analysis has been made on the available scientific literature over the past 10 years. The results of articles published in Pubmed, Google Scholar, PubMed Central, and ScienceDirect were analyzed and compared. Our own study was conducted among 47 patients on methadone treatment. Results: Opiate addiction, most commonly heroin, is one of the forms of drug abuse that is considered to be potentially harmful. Other commonly used drugs are the stimulants amphetamines, cocaine and methamphetamines. Dependent individuals lead a chaotic lifestyle, neglecting nutrition, health and personal hygiene, incl. oral hygiene. Very often, drug users are at great risk, such as overdose, infectious diseases and subsequent complications of non-treatment. Conclusion : A proper approach to drug addicts is needed to protect doctors and patients, and in order to achieve a better physical, mental and emotional, incl. oral health. Recognizing drug addicts and treating them properly are key points in good management.

TL;DR: Serum hs-CRP concentrations were significantly higher in D MT2 patients than in healthy controls as well as in DMT2 patients with CHD than in CHD-free DMT 2 ones, and homocysteine concentrations wereificantly higher inDMT2 patient with CHd than in controls.
Abstract: PURPOSE: Hyperhomocysteinemia and hs-CRP are non-classical risk factors independently associated to the development of cardiovascular disease. The increased coronary heart disease (CHD) risk in subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DMT2) can be in part explained by the classical risk factors like hypertension, hyperlipidemia and obesity. There is no sufficient data about the importance of homocysteine (Hcy) and hs-CRP levels in DMT2 patients without CHD in predicting the macroangiopathic complications. The aim of this study was to determine the association between plasma homocysteine and hs-CRP concentrations in DMT2 patients with and without CHD. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Fifty patients hospitalized in the Clinic of Endocrinology at St. Marina University Hospital of Varna were divided into three groups: group one, 20 DMT2 patients without any evidence of CHD; group two, 20 DMT2 patients with history of CHD and group three, 10 healthy controls matched to these groups in terms of age and classical risk factors for CHD. RESULTS: Serum hs-CRP concentrations were significantly higher in DMT2 patients than in healthy controls as well as in DMT2 patients with CHD than in CHD-free DMT2 ones. Serum Hcy concentrations were significantly higher in DMT2 patient with CHD than in controls. Both markers were elevated in group two presenting with the highest risk for CHD.
