TL;DR: The data suggest that EBOV may block dendritic cell maturation after infection, thereby inhibiting activation of lymphocytes and eliminating those subsets that are most likely to be capable of mounting an effective response to the virus.
Abstract: During the course of an experimentally induced Ebola virus (EBOVA) infection of cynomolgus macaques, peripheral blood mononuclear cells were isolated and characterized by multi-color flow cytometry...

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered the Weibull Process (a nonhomogeneous Poisson process with intensity r(t) = λβt β−1) as a stochastic model for the Duane (1964) reliability growth postulate.
Abstract: The Weibull Process (a nonhomogeneous Poisson process with intensity r(t) = λβt β−1) is considered as a stochastic model for the Duane (1964) reliability growth postulate. Under this model the mean time between failure (MTBF) for the system at time t is given by M(t) = [r(t)]−1. Small sample and asymptotic confidence intervals on M(t) are discussed for failure- and time-truncated testing. Tabled values to compute the confidence intervals and numercial examples illustrating these procedures are presented.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated rigorously that when the ac modulating electric field is small compared to the dc surface electric field, the period of the Franz-Keldysh oscillations yields £s, independent of the relation between the width of the space-charge region and the penetration depth of light.
Abstract: We present a detailed generalization of the Franz-Keldysh theory of electromodulation which takes into account the presence of a dc surface electric field, ${\mathit{scrE}}_{\mathrm{dc}}^{\mathit{s}}$. We demonstrate rigorously that when the ac modulating electric field is small compared to ${\mathit{scrE}}_{\mathrm{dc}}^{\mathit{s}}$, the period of the Franz-Keldysh oscillations yields ${\mathit{scrE}}_{\mathrm{dc}}^{\mathit{s}}$. This result is independent of the relation between the width of the space-charge region and the penetration depth of light. The effects of broadening also are considered.

TL;DR: Incomplete or delayed fasciotomies are associated with muscle necrosis and death in civilian trauma as discussed by the authors, and Rapid air evacuation may delay treatment of patients with evolving extremity compartmen
Abstract: Background:Incomplete or delayed fasciotomies are associated with muscle necrosis and death in civilian trauma. Combat explosions severely damage tissue and distort normal anatomy making fasciotomies challenging. Rapid air evacuation may delay treatment of patients with evolving extremity compartmen

TL;DR: A contemporary review of NCTH is provided, including a unifying definition to promote future study as well as a description of resuscitative and operative management strategies to be used in this setting, and sets a course for research to improve mortality following this vexing injury pattern.
