Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis, characterization and cytotoxicity of palladium(II) complex of 3-[(2-hydroxy-benzylidene)-amino]-2-thioxo-imidazolidin-4-one
Biljana Šmit,Z Radoslav Pavlovic,Ana Radosavljevic-Mihailovic,Anja Dosen,G Milena Curcic,S Dragana Seklic,N Marko Zivanovic +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a polydentate ligand 3-((2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)-2-thioxo- imidazolidin-4-one was synthesized in the intermolecular cyclocondensation reaction of 2-hydroxbenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone and ethyl chloroacetate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Triphenylphosphine-mediated chemoselective synthesis of functionalized spiro-imidazol-4-ones
TL;DR: Stabilized phosphoranes, obtained from the three-component reaction between dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates and spiro-hydantoins in the presence of triphenylphosphine, undergo a smooth intramolecular Wittig reaction in boiling toluene to produce functionalized spiroimidazol-4-ones in good yields.
Book ChapterDOI
Plant-Derived Natural Products as Anticancer Agents
TL;DR: The taxanes paclitaxel and docetaxel, and camptothecin derivatives topotecan and irinotecin this paper were derived from the podophyllotoxin analogs etoposide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cellular uptake of ribonuclease A-functionalised core–shell silica microspheres
Gwen F. Chimonides,Jonathan M. Behrendt,Evita Chundoo,Charlotte E. Bland,Anna V. Hine,Andrew Devitt,David A. Nagel,Andrew J. Sutherland +7 more
TL;DR: The successful delivery of active ribonuclease A into HeLa cells via novel polymer core-silica shell microspheres is described, which resulted in reduced levels of both intracellular RNA and cell viability.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and characterization of cytotoxic compounds from Euphorbia cornigera Boiss.
TL;DR: Methanolic extract of Euphorbia cornigera shoots was separated using HPLC, affording compounds 1–4 that were new metabolites while the rest were known, and the MTT cytotoxicity assay was carried out using amrubicin hydrochloride as a positive control.

Journal ArticleDOI
The status of platinum anticancer drugs in the clinic and in clinical trials.
TL;DR: The status of platinum anticancer drugs currently approved for use, those undergoing clinical trials and those discontinued during clinical trials are updated, and the results in the context of where the field will develop over the next decade are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Natural products to drugs: natural product derived compounds in clinical trials
Mark S. Butler,Mark S. Butler +1 more
TL;DR: Natural product and natural product-derived compounds that are being evaluated in clinical trials or are in registration (as at 31st December 2007) have been reviewed, as well as natural products for which clinical trials have been halted or discontinued since 2005.
Journal ArticleDOI
Guidelines for the management of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine (including carcinoid) tumours (NETs)
John Ramage,A Ahmed,J Ardill,N.D.S. Bax,David J. Breen,Martyn Caplin,Pippa Corrie,J Davar,Albert Davies,Val Lewington,Tim Meyer,John Newell-Price,Graeme J. Poston,N. Reed,Andrea Rockall,William P. Steward,Rajesh V. Thakker,C. Toubanakis,Juan W. Valle,Caroline S. Verbeke,Ashley B. Grossman +20 more
TL;DR: These guidelines update previous guidance published in 2005 and have been revised by a group who are members of the UK and Ireland Neuroendocrine Tumour Society with endorsement from the clinical committees of the British Society of Gastroenterology and others.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cellular distribution and functions of P2 receptor subtypes in different systems.
TL;DR: This review is aimed at providing readers with a comprehensive reference article about the distribution and function of P2 receptors in all the organs, tissues, and cells in the body.
Journal ArticleDOI
Natural products: an evolving role in future drug discovery.
Bhuwan B. Mishra,Vinod K. Tiwari +1 more
TL;DR: The present review describes natural products, semi-synthetic NPs and NP-derived compounds that have undergone clinical evaluation or registration from 2005 to 2010 by disease area i.e. infectious, immunological, cardiovascular, neurological, inflammatory and related diseases and oncology.
