TLDR
This work implemented standard bone measurements in a novel ImageJ plugin, BoneJ, with which it analysed trabecular bone, whole bones and osteocyte lacunae and found that available software solutions were expensive, inflexible or methodologically opaque.

Additively manufactured metallic porous biomaterials based on minimal surfaces: A unique combination of topological, mechanical, and mass transport properties

TL;DR: Rationally designed and additively manufactured porous metallic biomaterials based on four different types of triply periodic minimal surfaces that mimic the properties of bone to an unprecedented level of multi-physics detail exhibit an interesting combination of topological, mechanical, and mass transport properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

Magnetically aligned graphite electrodes for high-rate performance Li-ion batteries

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a particle-alignment method that uses a low magnetic field and show that the lithium diffusion path is improved for an aligned thick graphite electrode, leading to a better rate capability.
Journal ArticleDOI

DiameterJ: A validated open source nanofiber diameter measurement tool.

TL;DR: The goal of this study was to create a user friendly ImageJ/FIJI plugin that would analyze SEM micrographs of nanofibers to determine nanofiber diameter on a desktop computer within 60 s.
Journal ArticleDOI

Matrix stiffness induces epithelial-mesenchymal transition and promotes chemoresistance in pancreatic cancer cells.

TL;DR: It is found that recapitulation of the fibrotic rigidities found in pancreatic cancer tissues promote elements of EMT, including increases in vimentin expression, decreases in E-cadherinexpression, nuclear localisation of β-catenin, YAP and TAZ and changes in cell shape towards a mesenchymal phenotype, suggesting that environmental rigidity underlies an aspect of chemoresistance.

Theory of elasticity

TL;DR: The theory of the slipline field is used in this article to solve the problem of stable and non-stressed problems in plane strains in a plane-strain scenario.

Bone histomorphometry: Standardization of nomenclature, symbols, and units: Report of the asbmr histomorphometry nomenclature committee

TL;DR: A committee of the Society to develop a unified system of termnology, suitable for adoption by the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research as part of its Instructions to Authors is formed, and is as complex and conceptually difficult as the field with which it deals.
