Conn: A Functional Connectivity Toolbox for Correlated and Anticorrelated Brain Networks
TLDR
The results indicate that the CompCor method increases the sensitivity and selectivity of fcMRI analysis, and show a high degree of interscan reliability for many fc MRI measures.Citations

A survey on applications and analysis methods of functional magnetic resonance imaging for Alzheimer's disease
Parisa Forouzannezhad,Alireza Abbaspour,Chen Fang,Mercedes Cabrerizo,David A. Loewenstein,Ranjan Duara,Malek Adjouadi +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the disruption of brain connectivity patterns of MCI and AD could be associated with cognitive decline, an interesting finding that could augment the prospects for early diagnosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
A multicenter study of ketamine effects on functional connectivity: Large scale network relationships, hubs and symptom mechanisms
Leah Fleming,Daniel C. Javitt,Cameron S. Carter,Joshua T. Kantrowitz,Ragy R. Girgis,Lawrence S. Kegeles,John D Ragland,Richard J. Maddock,Tyler A. Lesh,Costin Tanase,James Robinson,William Z. Potter,Marlene Carlson,Melanie M. Wall,Tse Hwei Choo,Jack Grinband,Jeffrey A. Lieberman,John H. Krystal,Philip R. Corlett +18 more
TL;DR: Ketamine-induced alterations in rsfMRI connectivity similar to those seen in patients with schizophrenia are found, and ketamine's use as a model of certain biomarkers of schizophrenia, particularly for early or at-risk patients is provided.

Autistic empathy toward autistic others.
Hidetsugu Komeda,Hirotaka Kosaka,Daisuke N. Saito,Yoko Mano,Minyoung Jung,Takeshi Fujii,Hisakazu T. Yanaka,Toshio Munesue,Makoto Ishitobi,Makoto Sato,Hidehiko Okazawa +10 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrated that the ventromedial prefrontal cortex was significantly activated in individuals with ASD in response to autistic characters and in TD individuals in Response to non-autistic characters, suggesting an atypical form of empathy in Individuals with ASD toward others with ASD.

Transcranial direct current stimulation facilitates response inhibition through dynamic modulation of the fronto-basal ganglia network
Marco Sandrini,Benjamin Xu,Benjamin Xu,Rita Volochayev,Oluwole Awosika,Wen-Tung Wang,John A. Butman,Leonardo G. Cohen +7 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that tDCS with the anode over the rIFC facilitates response inhibition by modulating neural activity and functional connectivity in the fronto-basal ganglia as well as rDLPFC and rIPC as an integral part of the response inhibition network.
Journal ArticleDOI
Brain-based sex differences in autism spectrum disorder across the lifespan: A systematic review of structural MRI, fMRI, and DTI findings.
TL;DR: In this article, a systematic review on MRI-based sex differences in ASD was conducted to elucidate variations across the lifespan and inform biomarker discovery of ASD in females and found that regions expressing replicable sex-by-diagnosis differences across studies overlapped with regions showing sex difference in neurotypical cohorts.

Collective dynamics of small-world networks
TL;DR: Simple models of networks that can be tuned through this middle ground: regular networks ‘rewired’ to introduce increasing amounts of disorder are explored, finding that these systems can be highly clustered, like regular lattices, yet have small characteristic path lengths, like random graphs.
Journal ArticleDOI
A default mode of brain function.
Marcus E. Raichle,Ann Mary MacLeod,Abraham Z. Snyder,William J. Powers,Debra A. Gusnard,Gordon L. Shulman +5 more
TL;DR: A baseline state of the normal adult human brain in terms of the brain oxygen extraction fraction or OEF is identified, suggesting the existence of an organized, baseline default mode of brain function that is suspended during specific goal-directed behaviors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complex brain networks: graph theoretical analysis of structural and functional systems
Edward T. Bullmore,Olaf Sporns +1 more
TL;DR: This article reviews studies investigating complex brain networks in diverse experimental modalities and provides an accessible introduction to the basic principles of graph theory and highlights the technical challenges and key questions to be addressed by future developments in this rapidly moving field.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional connectivity in the motor cortex of resting human brain using echo-planar MRI.
TL;DR: It is concluded that correlation of low frequency fluctuations, which may arise from fluctuations in blood oxygenation or flow, is a manifestation of functional connectivity of the brain.

The Brain's Default Network Anatomy, Function, and Relevance to Disease
TL;DR: Past observations are synthesized to provide strong evidence that the default network is a specific, anatomically defined brain system preferentially active when individuals are not focused on the external environment, and for understanding mental disorders including autism, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease.
