Dietary patterns and asthma in the E3N study.
Raphaëlle Varraso,F Kauffmann,Bénédicte Leynaert,N. Le Moual,Marie-Christine Boutron-Ruault,Françoise Clavel-Chapelon,Isabelle Romieu +6 more
TL;DR: Overall diet could be involved in frequent asthma exacerbations, one aspect of asthma severity, the results of the present study suggest.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of exercise-induced asthma, respiratory and allergic disorders in sports and the relationship to doping: Part II of the report from the Joint Task Force of European Respiratory Society (ERS) and European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) in cooperation with GA(2)LEN
Kai-Håkon Carlsen,Sandra D. Anderson,Leif Bjermer,Sergio Bonini,Vito Brusasco,Walter Canonica,J Cummiskey,Luís Delgado,S. Del Giacco,F Drobnic,Tari Haahtela,K. Larsson,Paolo Palange,Todor A. Popov,P. Van Cauwenberge +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed the evidence on possible improvement of performance in sports by inhaled beta 2-agonists and made recommendations for their treatment, with special reference to controller and reliever medications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of different antiasthmatic treatments on exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in children with asthma.
Iwona Stelmach,Tomasz Grzelewski,Paweł Majak,Joanna Jerzyńska,Włodzimierz Stelmach,Piotr Kuna +5 more
TL;DR: Differences in effects on exercise-induced bronchoconstriction between therapeutic options recommended in childhood asthma indicate control of childhood asthma with exercise- induced bronchconstriction can be obtained by using regular controller treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Down-regulation of insular cortex responses to dyspnea and pain in asthma
Andreas von Leupoldt,Tobias Sommer,Sarah Kegat,Falk Eippert,Hans Jörg Baumann,Hans Klose,Bernhard Dahme,Christian Büchel +7 more
TL;DR: Results suggest a down-regulation of affect-related insular cortex activity by the PAG during perceived dyspnea and pain in patients with asthma might represent a neuronal habituation mechanism reducing the affective unpleasantness of Dyspnea in asthma, which generalizes to other unpleasant physiological sensations such as pain.

Journal ArticleDOI
Dendritic cells and the control of immunity
TL;DR: Once a neglected cell type, dendritic cells can now be readily obtained in sufficient quantities to allow molecular and cell biological analysis and the realization that these cells are a powerful tool for manipulating the immune system is realized.

Lung volumes and forced ventilatory flows
TL;DR: Assessing the total lung capacity is indispensable in establishing a restrictive ventilatory defect or in diagnosing abnormal lung distensibility, as may occur in patients …
Journal ArticleDOI
Hay fever, hygiene, and household size.
TL;DR: A possible explanation forHay fever trends over time is suggested, as well as a recent increase in the prevalence of asthma2 and childhood eczema.
