The Value of Chest Roentgenograms in Acute Asthma in Adults

TL;DR: The data show that the incidence of specific abnormalities on chest roentgenogram in adults with uncomplicated acute asthma is low and suggests that the information obtained from the roent genogram is rarely helpful to outpatient management, probably only when there is clinical evidence of pneumonia, a complication of asthma, or a pulmonary disorder that mimics asthma.

Increased morbidity and mortality related to asthma among asthmatic patients who use major tranquillisers.

TL;DR: Asthmatic patients who use major tranquillisers seem to be at an increased risk of death or near death from asthma, and doctors should exercise greater caution in management of such patients.

Extracellular matrix and lung inflammation.

TL;DR: Activation of integrin-mediated intracellular signals may promote inflammation by facilitating leukocyte recruitment and cytokine expression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protective effect and duration of action of inhaled formoterol and salbutamol on exercise-induced asthma in children.

TL;DR: Salbutamol offered good protection against EIA after 1/2 hour but was not significantly different from that of placebo after 3 hours, 39% (13%) fall in FEV1; formoterol blocked EIA in all the children and demonstrated a significant effect in most children for at least 8 hours.
