Abstract
This article is a survey of existing hypertext systems, their applications, and their design. It is both an introduction to the world of hypertext and, at a deeper cut, a survey of some of the most important design issues that go into fashioning a hypertext environment. The concept of hypertext is quite simple: Windows on the screen are associated with objects in a database, and links are provided between these objects, both graphically (as labelled tokens) and in the database (as pointers). But this simple idea is creating much excitement. Several universities have created laboratories for research on hypertext, many articles have been written about the concept just within the last year, and the Smithsonian Institute has created a demonstration laboratory to develop and display hypertext technologies.

Web page revisitation revisited: implications of a long-term click-stream study of browser usage

TL;DR: Results of an extensive long-term click-stream study of Web browser usage are presented, focusing on character and challenges of page revisitation, and different types of revisitation are identified that allow assessing the quality of current user support and developing concepts for new tools.

Goal Configurations and Processing Strategies as Moderators Between Instructional Design and Cognitive Load: Evidence From Hypertext-Based Instruction

TL;DR: The authors proposed some augmentations of cognitive load theory (CLT) inspired by evidence from hypertext-based instruction, focusing on the role of goal configurations and processing strategies as moderators between instructional design and cognitive load.

Perceived disorientation: an examination of a new measure to assess web design effectiveness

TL;DR: A new measure of perceived disorientation that helps to explain experiences with Web-based systems is presented, and it is suggested that designers will find it useful in assessing and comparing Web designs.

Electronic Device with Text Error Correction Based on Voice Recognition Data

TL;DR: In this paper, the autocorrection engine may make word correction decisions based at least partly on information in the spoken word database, and the corrected words may be displayed in real time as the user supplies the text input.

Hypertext navigation system controlled by spoken words

TL;DR: In this article, a hypertext navigation system that is controllable by spoken words has hypertext documents to which specific dictionaries and probability models for assisting in an acoustic voice recognition of hyper-links of this hypertext document are allocated.
