TLDR
In this paper, a comprehensive overview of image correlation for shape, motion and deformation measurements is provided. But, the authors do not discuss the effect of out-of-plane motion on 2D measurements.Abstract:
Image Correlation for Shape, Motion and Deformation Measurements provides a comprehensive overview of data extraction through image analysis. Readers will find and in-depth look into various single- and multi-camera models (2D-DIC and 3D-DIC), two- and three-dimensional computer vision, and volumetric digital image correlation (VDIC). Fundamentals of accurate image matching are described, along with presentations of both new methods for quantitative error estimates in correlation-based motion measurements, and the effect of out-of-plane motion on 2D measurements. Thorough appendices offer descriptions of continuum mechanics formulations, methods for local surface strain estimation and non-linear optimization, as well as terminology in statistics and probability. With equal treatment of computer vision fundamentals and techniques for practical applications, this volume is both a reference for academic and industry-based researchers and engineers, as well as a valuable companion text for appropriate vision-based educational offerings.read more

Experimental and Visco-Plastic Self-Consistent evaluation of forming limit diagrams for anisotropic sheet metals: An efficient and robust implementation of the M-K model
TL;DR: In this paper, an efficient formulation for the prediction of forming-limit diagrams based on the well-known Marciniak and Kuczynski (M−K) theory using a Visco-Plastic Self-Consistent (VPSC) crystal-plasticity model has been detailed.

High frequency mode shapes characterisation using Digital Image Correlation and phase-based motion magnification
TL;DR: In this article, the combination of DIC and motion magnification is explored in order to provide numerical information in magnified videos and perform DIC mode shapes characterisation at unprecedented high frequencies through increasing the amplitude of displacements.

Damage measurements via DIC
TL;DR: In this article, the authors use image correlation techniques to estimate damage fields and to determine material parameters of damage growth laws, which can be used for damage detection, damage quantification and damage model validation.

Comparison of simple and pure shear for an incompressible isotropic hyperelastic material under large deformation
D.C. Moreira,L.C.S. Nunes +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare simple and pure shear deformation by means of experimental and theoretical approaches, and show that simple shear cannot be considered as pure sher combined with a rotation when large deformation is assumed.

Investigations on the fretting fatigue failure mechanism of bolted joints in high strength steel subjected to different levels of pre-tension
TL;DR: In this paper, a series of fatigue tests on bolted connections using moderately thick plates made of high strength steel S500MC carried out using different pre-tension levels is described, and it was shown that fretting fatigue decreased when a higher pretension force is used.
