Introducing global peat-specific temperature and pH calibrations based on brGDGT bacterial lipids

TLDR
In this article, the authors investigate the distribution of brGDGTs in 470 samples from 96 peatlands around the world with a broad mean annual air temperature (−8 to 27 °C) and pH (3-8) range and present the first peat-specific brGGT-based temperature and pH calibrations.

Distributions of 5- and 6-methyl branched glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (brGDGTs) in East African lake sediment : Effects of temperature, pH, and new lacustrine paleotemperature calibrations

TL;DR: This article used an improved chromatographic method to quantify the fractional abundances of 5- and 6-methyl isomers in surface sediments from 65 East African lakes spanning temperatures 1.6-26.8°C.

The DeepMIP contribution to PMIP4: methodologies for selection, compilation and analysis of latest Paleocene and early Eocene climate proxy data, incorporating version 0.1 of the DeepMIP database

TL;DR: The Deep Time Model Intercomparison Project (DeepMIP) as discussed by the authors is a systematic model and data intercomparisons of three early Paleogene time slices: latest Paleocene, Paleocene-Eocene thermal maximum (PETM) and early Eocene climatic optimum (EECO).

Refining the global branched glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraether (brGDGT) soil temperature calibration

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared all available modern soil brGDGT data (n ǫ = 350) to a wide range of environmental parameters to obtain new global temperature calibrations.

A General Inductive Approach for Analyzing Qualitative Evaluation Data

TL;DR: Although the general inductive approach is not as strong as some other analytic strategies for theory or model development, it does provide a simple, straightforward approach for deriving findings in the context of focused evaluation questions.

Hope theory: Rainbows in the mind.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors defined hope as the perceived capability to derive pathways to desired goals, and motivate oneself via agency thinking to use those pathways, and described the adult and child hope scales that are derived from hope theory.
