Ions in water: characterizing the forces that control chemical processes and biological structure.

TLDR
Two different techniques indicate that the interaction of water with anions is by an approximately linear hydrogen bond, suggesting that the dominant forces on ions in water are short range forces of a chemical nature.

The effects of cell phone electromagnetic fields on the behavior of single OmpF nanochannel forming protein: a practical approach

TL;DR: Exposure of single voltage dependent channel, OmpF, to EMF of cell phone at high-frequency has a significant influence on the voltage sensitivity, gating properties and substate numbers of the single channel but has no effect on single-channel conductance.

Effect of counter-anions on the aggregation of Thioflavin-T

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of counter-anions on the aggregation of a popular cationic amyloid sensing probe, Thioflavin-T (ThT), was investigated by taking six different anions, viz. chloride, bromide, acetate, iodide, tetrafluoroborate, and perchlorate.

Bridging Structure, Dynamics, and Thermodynamics: An Example Study on Aqueous Potassium Halides.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors employ a combined neutron scattering, nuclear magnetic resonance, and computational modelling approach to deconstruct ion specific perturbations to water structure and dynamics and shed light on the molecular origins of bulk thermodynamic properties of the solutions.

Ionic physisorption on bubbles induced by pulsed ultra-sound

TL;DR: It is shown here that the liquid phase resulting from the coalescence of the overflowing foam is enriched in some ions versus the initial brine and can be attributed to a weak adsorption of hydrated ions at the surfactant-water interface.

The Hofmeister effect and the behaviour of water at interfaces.

TL;DR: The first general, detailed qualitative molecular mechanism for the origins of ion-specific (Hofmeister) effects on the surface potential difference at an air-water interface is proposed; this mechanism suggests a simple model for the behaviour of water at all interfaces, regardless of whether the non-aqueous component is neutral or charged, polar or non-polar.
