Synthesis, crystal growth and characterization of 1,5-diphenylpenta-1,4-dien-3-one: An organic crystal
TL;DR: In this paper, a single Dibenzalacetone (DBA) crystal was grown by the slow evaporation of ethanol solution and the crystal belongs to monoclinic system with centrosymmetric space group C 2/c.
Journal ArticleDOI
Linear polarizabilities and second hyperpolarizabilities of streptocyanines: Results from broken-Symmetry DFT and new CCSD(T) benchmarks.
TL;DR: It is found that the lowest‐energy electronic states for the larger streptocyanine oligomers are not closed‐shell singlets, and improved accuracy can be obtained with certain DFT methods by allowing the system to relax to a lower‐energy broken‐symmetry solution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogen-bonding contributions to the lattice energy of salts for second harmonic generation
TL;DR: In this article, the lattice energies of a series of organic dihydrogenphosphate salts capable of second harmonic generation (SHG) have been calculated and it was shown that a minimum of 20-25% of the energy arises from hydrogen-bond interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Four-Wave Mixing in Metal Poly-Ynes
TL;DR: In this article, the authors conclude that strong two-photon absorptions in metal poly-ynes contribute significantly to the observed third-order nonlinearities of these materials, and the possible influence of conformers on this behavior is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structures and non-linear optical properties of polar carotenoid analogues
Hideki Hashimoto,Takayasu Nakashima,Kingo Hattori,Takashi Yamada,Teruyasu Mizoguchi,Yasushi Koyama,Takayoshi Kobayashi +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the structures and non-linear optical properties of polar carotenoid analogues, in which electron-accepting groups were introduced to the polyene backbone of Carotenoids, were studied.
